new summer toys? - what's yours?
Finally got the news letter yesterday!
I dont have very many suggestion because I have to say that it looks great!
From lay out to fonts it looks spectacular, clean, mostly easy to read and easy to follow. You did not get carried away with using 100 different fonts or font effects like most people do. Looks clean and professional
Excellent writing skills by all. I sure didn't expect a full page from Zap!
On here he rarely types more than 3 lines!
Only 2 suggestions I might have; one is to maybe use a heavier paper. There is a lot of bleed through from the print on the back side. Hammer Mill makes a real nice 24lb, 94 bright paper it has a very tight weave so less light can come thru it which reduces bleed throu. If you look at one then look at any other piece of paper you may not bebale to tell the difference. But set them side by side and Hammer Mills bright white is alot whiter than any one elses. Which improves contrast which makes print easier to read. It also has less lint so the ink is not deflected as much when it hits the paper, which means you get a sharper image, making it even easier to read. All of that together works to make the same docment look so much nicer and easier to read. It is only about $7 a ream or $27 a case. It is well worth the extra cost. Once you see the difference that it makes to your design then you likely won't beable to use any other paper again.
Second suggestion, since you dont use envelopes then I would increase the margins. By the time that mine arrived there was a small piece missing torwards the bottum left corner. Damaged in the mail but not very bad. But it was missing one or two letters off of a few lines of Letter from the Editor, Zap's article, The Next Chapter Meet, as well as the Treasures Report. Of course if it gets ripped in half in the mail then you can't do anything about that. But edge damage is to be expected, even more so when mailed naked. So we must protect the info in a document by moving it away from the edges 0.65"-1.0". If using the US Postal service to send a document that I know is going to be mailed naked, I use atleast .75" margins more if I can.
Other than the margins being the only lay out suggestion, then keep on laying it out exactly with what you are doing. It is nearly perfect.

I knew you had, I just created an oppurtunity to give you a hard time.

Mrs. Mag does the majority of my editing of EVERYTHING personal before it goes out. Profesional for clients if I'm at work then I have someone else in the office edit it for typos and such. Becasue I just do not see them for some reason.
Since I do ad designs, and publications on the side then I hire this lady that is better than Kobi and RJS put together. She proof reads it before I show it to the customer for thier proof read and then I have her look at it again after I have made any changes that the customer requests and before I send it to the printer. If anything ever happens to her than I'll be in a world of hurt.

My new summer toy. . .

Oh and my hubby told me today he bought me a Suzuki Samurai (I haven't seen it yet) to beat around in, save on gas ya know. We used to have one and they are kinda fun to drive but I'm definitely NOT giving up my truck!

Well you hook up the garden hose to the deck cleaning ports one on each side, they give you a quick connect, then

engage the blades and the water washes under the deck cleaning out some and i quote some of the grass sricking to the underside of the deck. It works well if you do it everytime you get done cutting.
i kinda do the same thing with my tractor
everytime i run over the hose with the water on

That would be fun to play with for about the first month. Then I'd get tired of it, evetually would just turn the blades on and bounce the deck up and down a few times til it jarred some of it loose like I do now.
I dont think that is the recomended procedure, but it works.
