Raoul, I know these aren't goats but can you shed a little light on what these sheep might have been thinking?

Sheeps are not too bright.

A goat would have walked to the edge, looked over and said, "WTF mate?"

It's hard to say really. That part of Turkey is fairly remote and it takes quite awhile for news to reach the area.

It could have been that the shepherds were discussing over breakfast how Bush had been re-elected and the sheep overheard them.

Wow! Imagine what would happen if Billary got elected. Camels and even goats would head for the cliffs in droves. The weasels would be happy though! They'd have a fellow weasel in the White House.

Seriously though, lemmings jumping off cliffs...ok, but sheep? Pretty weird.

Talking

So the saying is true?

Where one sheep goes, follows another.

I assume Americans use that saying also.
We do, litterally translated: When one sheep has crossed the dam, more will follow.

That means we only have to explain why the first one jumped.

If you have ever watched a 'working dog' herd sheep you'd notice that the herd is an entity.

The dog can move the herd around like a drop of water on a cutting board.

It moves and flows just like a school of fish.

Actually, no, would you care to explain? And hey, I didn't start the political stuff.
