Ford's out gunning Hemi's? Say it isn't so!!

I posted this as a reply in another post, where a 2004-2005 F-150 supposedly smoked a "Hemi". While I find that difficult to believe, it was inspiring- considering the fact that I assassinated a 2004/2005 SuperCrew this morning, made me feel a llittle better about my 2002 SCrew. I posted this freshly because it's buried under 28 other posts in the other thread.

I say assassinated because I SMOKED a 2004-2005 F-150 on the freeway this morning. I was cruising along the service road at 40 MPH approaching my entrance point (I always drive the middle lane), when he comes down the onramp (From the side road onto the service road). He was about even with me, but I could see he was moving faster...

About 300 - 500 feet ahead is the entrance to the freeway (Who designed theses roads anyway?). He must've been running straight pipes, because I heard his Ford open up as he tried to make his move, and get in front of me... Had I let him pass, the cars coming up on my left would have pinched me in, and possibly forced me to miss my exit from the service road onto the freeway.

Also being an Alpha-Male, I gassed mine up a bit, brining my flowmasters from just above Idle, into "FINISH HIM" mode. I don't know what he's running, but my 4.6 liters came to life and left him (And all that noise) chasing Arizona Beige tailgate. We both made the onramp- he never passed me.

************************************

So, if the new F-150's can smoke a Hemi; then I can REALLY smoke a Hemi...

I always felt the 4.6 was quicker than the 5.4- I haven't heard a Ford wail like his truck did since I rode in my cousin's SuperCrew (5.4). Cuz's truck has flows on it, with the FIPK, throttle spacers, and other goodies on it... (My truck still feels quicker with just a K&N filter & flows)

Now, I drive Fords- but this in no way blinds me to reality... I find it hard to believe that our beloved SuperCrews can even come close to a Titan or Hemi-Ram red-light to red-light, stock..

Now, if you hook a 5,000 lb trailer to them- I'd believe it; but empty- no... Not even against the Tundra...

I don't think all the F150s out there can smoke Hemis... but with my tune, slightly better flowing intake and matched against the same sized Dodge I was able to take him. After chatting with a Dodge owner at a party this past weekend he was greatly disappionted with the F150's performance when he drove one. We both went out for rides in each others trucks, and he was amazed at how mine felt vs his truck and the early build F150 he test drove.

There are also posts in the '04/05 forum about the new PCM update and the miracles it has worked for the performance of the truck.

So was the guy you ran into running the 5.4l or the 4.6? Didja see the badge on the side to ensure this? That's the only way I can tell the dodges apart are the badges...

CIA,

Stock against Stock...I believe you.

But these Fords can move with the right mods.

I was just judging by the sound....

The only way (Aside from seeing the badges on the engine) that I can tell a 4.6 from a 5.4 is from listening to them start up. They each have a distinctie sound...

Kinda like how I can tell a Honda whenever one of those fires up, or how I can be in my house, and know when a 5.7L Camaro, or a Corvette has passed my house (stock). I can tell a Mustang too- as long as it's stock, especially if it's a manual.

93? You might want to check that. Some of those 93's had Mustang V8s in them (that was the time they moved to the 4.6 and needed to get rid of the extra engines)

No.... 93 Mustangs didn't have the 4.6 they had the tried and true 302.
The 96 was the first year for the 4.6 in the stang (if I remember correctly)

94 was the new body style

you're probably right, but I do know that for sure there were F150s in the early to mid 90s that had Mustang blocks in them.

I may be a lil late but who thinks a 02 4.6 can run with a new 5.4???
An ex freind of mine lol has a 02 screw 4.6 with an intake and chip, and we raced from a dead stop all the way up to top. My 04 screw fx4 was bone stock and it pulled right there and was passing him!! Obviously the other 04 wastn pinned or else you wouldnt be posting stupid things on here!

while I have the 4.6 in my truck, i have to say that it will get smoked by a 5.4. Plain and simple. Driven several of both, theres no comparison.

As far as the new 5.4 -vs- Hemi...not sure but it would be close.

I have an 01 supercrew lariat with the 5.4, ran a dodge hemi, 4 door pickup, from a dead stop up to about 70 mph I had him by a 1/4 of a truck, then he started pulling on me. My truck is bone stock, so with an intake, chip and exhaust he wouldn't have stood a chance. I would like to run an 04 or 05 Supercrew just to see. The fords out torque the hemi, but at higher speeds the hemi h.p. will give them the upper hand.
