Unhappy I apologize

I know you are all expecting my quick witted and wise responses to most all of the threads as I have in the past.. ..so I must apologize. My folks live out in the sticks and have no cable. I must settle for the dreaded dial-up and it is extremely slow in this neck of the woods. So for a while I will only be reading a few select threads and try to avoid any with pictures because they take too long to load. Hopefully I'll be back up and running with cable or satellite internet very soon!

Rosey, in your used cp you can edit your "Thread Display Options" and this will speed up the site for you.

you could go into the user cp and turn off sigs, avatars and any pictures in a thread.

Thanks I'll turn off all the noise and see if it helps!!

RP, the sticks are actually just to my liking!! I, myself, prefer the sticks to the concrete jungle. In fact we just made an offer on a house on 12+ acres of land in...the sticks!!...gonna have to research satellite modems cuz there is no cable or DSL that far from town and dial-up just ain't going to cut it!

Y'all wish us luck on the purchase and I'll keep you posted on the outcome.

But when faced with the choice of either satelite or dial up.... Satelite is light speed compared to dial up. I would pay the money for it if it was my only option. Dial up isn't really even an option, dial up is like the doughnut tire in the car trunk. It will roll, but wont go very fast nor very far. I sure wouldn't buy a set to run full time.

Speaking of 'The Sticks', I just got back from Eufaula, Alabama. My dad bought a cabin just outside of town on Lake Eufaula (the Chatahoochee River). Although I guess he could be further out in the sticks, he does have a paved road all the way to his house. There are about 15 houses on his road, and he's about 8-9 miles from the nearest Wally World (it's across the street from the Piggly Wiggly and the Waffle House).
Wooooo-Hooo! I've finally been to 'The Sticks'!

The girl that I work with lives a couple of towns away. They are small towns so it is not un common for people to drive here for work. She drives about 45 mins 1 way. When she is telling someone how to get to her house I break in and tell them she lives 15 minutes past BFE.

If satelite and dial up are the only options, then satelite wins hands down. It's like the difference between pushing a car or driving it.
