First thing I'll say is when you get to williamsport, take I180 around town to I80. It's a little longer distance wise than taking 15 straight to 80, but it is usually much quicker. As I said before, cabela's in hamburg (on I78 due north of reading) is a must see. Right a few miles down 78 from cabela's (towards HBURG) is a little place called "roadside america" It is basically the life's work of this old fellow. He made this whole miniature world with model trains, cars, houses, everything. Almost everything is mechanical and can be operated by pushing a button (although years are catching up and some of it doesn't work like it did). It's so tacky I love it.
Less than 15 miles north of cabelas, you come to pottsville, home of the world famous Yuengling brewery.
It's a lot more of a detour than cabelas is, but reading has a lot of good outlet shopping, but my home area of lancaster has greatly surpassed it in the last several years.
Anyways, you're not coming through much of my stomping grounds; if you want to make a detour through Lancaster county shopping and amish land, I'm the guy to talk to. Obviously there's plenty to see/do in philadelphia, most of which I can't help with. I try to avoid the cities like the plague. King of Prussia Mall complex is a heck of a place right outside philly (near Valley Forge historic park which is a heck of a place to see as well). umm, Philadelphia mint is there, also the Philadelphia zoo is world class.
Longwood gardens at Kennet square is nice if you're into plants. (just hold your breath, Kennet square and Avondale is the mushroom capital of the world)
Centralia is not too teribly far off I80 (that's the town with the underground coal fires that Lees posted pics of the other week).
Look for bears coming down 15 before you hit williamsport, you'll be coming through some of PA's most productive bear areas.
If youre into racing, you'll be going very close to Nazareth speedway...
There is one Helluva paintball place around Jim Thorpe, PA
Sorry for the random thoughts, just looking at the map for towns that stick out to me...
I'll probably be back with more in a bit.
P.s., stop at cabela's!

Now if you decided to take the scenic route (routes 11 and 15 along the river down to harrisburg then 283 to 30 in lancaster then 41 down into delaware) I could write you a large book on things to see and do...There's not really a whole lot along the interstates (except very expensive gasoline)...you could even swing my place for a beer

I'd be happy to offer my tour guide services...it's really good to visit the area on a tuesday (I'll tell you why later)...anyways, I gotta get to bed. If you decide to cruise through my neck of the woods, let me know...
How long do you plan on traveling through the Lancaster area? Heck you can easily spend more than 1 day on one 5 mile stretch of Lincoln Highway East.
It's been a long time since I lived up there, since when I graduated high school in 1970, and it certainly has changed a lot. I can't say in all cases for the better.

Buck,
Lancaster is nice. The wife loves the outlet shops (don't see it myself but whatever) I take the kids up to Dutch Wonderland each year. Great for their ages. My son loves trains and they have a great little train yard right in Strasburg. http://www.strasburgrailroad.com/. You can take a short little trip on an old coal burning steam engine. My kids love it and so do the wife and I.

Cabellas was good,
If you wander out towards harrisburg, there ain't much to do. Hershey Park is kinda worth it, but I have been there so many times it is normal to me.
Right now I am down in philly at widener university. We have been having fun just drivin around the city in the truck. Can you say traffic? Never have seen anything like it.

Buck if you are passing through Williamsport, the Little League Museum might be worth a look and if you continue down us-15 south, Reptile Land is pretty cool.
