State shot glasses and vacation stories
State shot glasses and vacation stories
Anyone else collect the state shot glass souveneirs? I just got back Sunday night from a 9 day 14 state road trip. I was able to get 13 glasses from the states that we went through. We were trying to get one while we were in the state. But we didn't even stop through 2 states. We found a Pilot truck stop that had every state. We were looking for Kentucky but they had one and it was cracked so that is the only one we didn't get.
On our trip there were 4 of us in a Ford Escape with the back loaded down and a cargo carrier on the roof loaded down. We went from Florida to Minnesota to a cabin on a lake for a couple of days with my sister in-laws family. Then we came back the long way and ended up going through 14 states total. These are all states I have never been to before. We went through Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Iowa and Minnesota on the way. On the way home we went through Wisconsin to see where my dad was born, then through Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, a part of Tennessee again, North Carolina where we stopped in Cherroke, then through South Carolina, Georgia and then back to Jacksonville Florida. All of this in just 9 days.
We also had some other crazy adventures too during the trip. One being the septic tank going out at the cabin and having no running water for 2 days and the nearest town being about 10 miles away. We had to use an outhouse just to use the restroom. The other being sleeping in a tent outside when the wind starts cranking about 60 mph at least and blowing the tent apart, then start pouring down rain.
It was a very fun trip, I just hated having to come back to work. Just thought I would share some of my adventures with you guys

Nope didn't see you. We didn't get into your part of Georgia until about 10:30. So unless you were on I95 around 10:30 Sunday night I didn't see you.
I like to try and get them as I go through a state. Sometimes though, states may be small in the area that I am traveling and we may not stop. Driving 1700 miles in 2 days, you really can't stop unless you have to.

I collect shot glasses from countries, not states, however.
