It looks like an inline fuse but what it's for?? Beyond me... Follow the wires and see where it leads.

I have a plug almost like that in the same place, one on both sides. I was kinda wondering if it was for foglights. Ive heard even if you dont ave them some trucks are wired for them. But Ive tested it with a voltmeter with vehicle on, various lights on etc and I can never get it to get power.

It could be for foglights or some other feature.... If you dont have a fog light switch installed in the dash using a factory connector then it wouldnt have power... Just went and looked at mine and it dosent have anything like that that I could see.

It's for the Optional Flux Capacitor. If you got that option, also included was the 1.21 gigawatt alternator...

It's for the fog lights, my expi has the same thing. If you were to buy fog lights and hook it up all you'd have to do is turn the light's *** on and pull out to turn on the fog lamps. Wife's KR has the actual fog lights in it.

There should be another one on the other side. Mine are down behind the front bumper. If that's not what it is, it sure looks like it. Might be a plug for some other stock accessory that wasn't installed.

That's the type thing that makes these trucks so complicated.
With a truck rolling off the line every 90 seconds, Ford figures it simplier to use a single wiring harness at the various locations, also there is one part number for them to keep track of instead of three or four.
(Stop the line becuase the installer has box full of XLT wire harnesses and here comes a King Ranch needing signal mirrors, etc...)

If you buy a completely loaded truck, everything is hooked up.
It's good if you buy say a XLT with power windows and later you want to add Signal Mirrors yourself.

But, the poor guy with an XL has gadzillion wires that don't go no where.

From the A-pillars forward, a '97-'03 and '04 Heritage F150 and an Expedition/Navigator are the same. Like Raoul sez, Ford saves a buck by building a few generic wiring harnesses and not using all the plugs. For instance, every F150, regardless of whether it's a 4x4 or not, has a connector for the transfer case shift motor on the frame rail towards by the end of the transmission tail housing. That looks like the connector that'd go to the air suspension compressor on an Expygator.

Try putting the meter on it when the headlamp switch is in the on position and pull it out toward you than test it. It looks like wiring for fog lights and that is how to turn fog lights on if they came from the factory.

it's the optional Dead Goat Recharge Plug-in Module. Optional everywhere except Virginia where it is mandatory...
