Have you ever thought about that?
In greek mythology Triton is a god of the sea, the son of Poseidon.
Since then it has represented huge just under Titanic which is derived from Triton only means bigger than Triton. Triton is also the largest moon of Neptune. So I'd say they choose Triton to say that it is big, but since titanic was taken by some boat, then they decided to seperate themselfs from that feat of engineering and still say big.
Just a guess.

Thumper = 4 Stroke
MX = Motocross
113 = My Racing Number
I think my call sign is fairly self explantory... I think the AF decided on Flight Engineer because back in the day, the Engineer was responsible for operating & monitoring the ENGINES... In the aircraft of the mondern era, they stayed with FE since "Side-Sitting Switch Monkey" was deemed offensive to some...
The HANDS DOWN dumbest name for a car in my opinion...
Ford PROBE...
WHAT THE ***** WERE THEY THINKING???
KC-10 FE out...

Another one bites the dust.
Already in production for certain Ford Australian models, the new 5.4L Triton - whose primary new features are a SOHC/3-valve-per-cylinder layout and continuously variable intake-valve timing - will be launched in North America next year in conjunction with Ford's all-new '04 F-Series.
i think the idea behind the triton name is due to the 3-valve-per-cylinder....
Tri = three..
as far as the rest of the word i have no flippin clue...maybe just there for looks?

kia rio is a dumb car name.
~Q
p.s. qiterplop is a variation of my online name back when i used to play everquest, guild members called me that cuz it was probably easier to pronouce then Qiteroplyisis (smacked the keyboard and added some vowels at the character creation sceen when making his name). yay for nerds!

Like all urban legends, some truth in there, some exaggerations. Which is why I never noted "poor sales as a result of the name."
It is still a funny one for Spanish-speakers
I thought that car was the Italian Isetta. My handle is the same I used for a while when I traded blues music files internationally. Blue is for the music, Jay is my initial, 43, the year I was born, 2000 was the year I started trading the music. Long time ago. Wish I had picked a different one for this forum, but was too lazy.

I've heard that one so many times. I'm surprised I never checked it out before now. I believed it, and have quoted it, too.
