We do all ours in house. Rechroming rods etc, the whole lot. We do send stuff out to get spray welded though. (I think)

I've welded in a couple different shops and had never heard that term before.
Searched goggle and learned a little bit about it. That is C.O.O.L. I wonder if there is a video somewhere of the gun working?

We have 2 guys that do mobile align boring all the time. thats about all they do. They weld up the holes and then machine them back out to specs and press in the new bearings if needed.

No, they have it easy. after welding and setting up the equipment they sit and watch it work. they do have to adjust the cutter though.

Not sure about the D11 but the new 797 is around 3.5 million depending on options. The market is so good now Cat can not make the equipment fast enough. Cat and the suppliers cant meet the demand, We are getting equipment with out the tires. We have to buy them locally.

very true, tires are hard to come by these days. The tire companies say every tire they make from now until the end of '06 is spoken for! You can always get the so-so Russian tires. We bought some once and they were crap. Couldn't drive full speed with a full load on or they would overheat and shred. He!! if you order a D-11 now you won't see it for at least 10 months to a year. The whole mining industry is booming now, worldwide they are going nuts mining. We should open a tire plant!! lol

If I was a Zillionair then I'd also have to get one of these spray welders to play with.
