Generac portable generators; any good?

Hay all, do any of you have any experience w/ Generac generators? Getting ready to buy another generator before hurricane season gets in gear. We were looking at the Briggs and Stratton, Coleman and the Generacs. Will be getting a portable in the 6-7K KW range.

So whatcha all think? Thanks..........

I use a honda generator 40 plus hours a week, for the past two yrs. I wouldn't own any other brand. Just change the oil, water the battery and regular maint. Plus the honda's are much quiter than other brand's I've
heard running. If this is a generator, you must count on, then by all means
check out the honda's. I own an use an EB1100.

The Hondas are expensive but worth it. We've had Generacs too and they lasted a long time but like said before, they are loud. If you can just get a Guardian unit! Hopefully we get ours before huricane season strikes! It'll be nice to have full power in the house with the a/c and all!

Genrac makes a QUIETPACT RV generator that's pretty quite. It requires an external fuel source so it isn't really portable. That and they are fairly pricey. I think ONAN makes a similar type of unit.

IF you're looking for quite and portable the Honda and Yamaha units are the only way to go. Again they are fairly pricey. The honda inverter series alows you to run two generators in tandem for more power. There's a 1000W 2000W and 3000W model. I have two of the 2000W (EU2000i) units and they are real nice. I wanted something I could take to any campground and run all night if needed and not tork off the neighbors. You can get them from www.meberrys.com for $879 a piece. 2 2000's put out 26.6 amps, no 220V just 110. The noise at full throtle is low enough you can talk normally 10-15 feet away. With the eco throttle you can talk normal sitting right next to it/them.

For anybody that wants to run two hondas together, here's a DIY kit, rather thant the $250 version you buy. http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/...900&uid=558963
