Proud Dad, 4 year old daughter took the gold!
My daughter has been in karate for about 8 months now, and had her first olympics Sunday. She did great during the whole event, and got a gold medal for her efforts. Well, all kids got a gold medal, but we don't have to tell the grandparent that. hehe
Here are a couple of pictures. The first is of her doing a backwards roundhouse kick over a chair...
This next picture is of her breaking her first board with a punch. It took her a few tries, but she finally got it. Unfortunately, the battery to the camcorder went dead right before she finally broke it.
And one final picture of her back home with her gold medal
It got a little hairy on the ride home. We had an explorer bolt out in front of us and it stalled. I tried to stop, and didn't have time to look to see if I could jump lanes to dodge him, but after 20 yards of locked up brakes, we slammed into the side of the explorer on his rear bumper. We were driving a rental Mazda 3 since our truck is in for service. The Mazda had to be towed off because the front quarter panel and bumper were resting on the tire. The explorer had a bent rear bumper and a slight dent in the far quarter panel. It was completely their fault, and the police sited them. It's always a bit scary seeing it coming, especially when your 4 year old is in the back and your pregnant wife is in the front with you. Just glad it is all over, so far, and we are home. Hopefully we get our truck back on Tuesday.
The highlights of the day washed away all the negative stuff with the wreck... my daughter kicked butt today and I couldn't be more proud.

Congrats on your daughters win!! Thats awesome!!
Glad no one was hurt in the accident, that would have been pretty awful after the exciting evening. Also glad you were in a rental and not the truck!!

Congrads on your daughter's accomplishments! As a parent myself I know how proud you are. My eldest daughter has been involved in sports since she was 5 or 6. She always wins a gold in her dad's heart!
Glad no one was hurt on the ride home.
