Problem Years
Did a little research last night and think I discovered a few things.
Looks like '97 was the first year of the "modern" body style. Is that correct?
Looks like I'll be looking for a '97 or '98 model 4X4. I love that body style...
Any problems with these years I should know about or look for when I go shopping.
I'm a life long Ford man, and I need a Truck to go along with my '95 GT and '66 289 coupe Mustangs.
Any help on this will be appreciated !

Yes, the "modern" body style was introduced in '97. I have a 2000 which is essentially the same except my supercab has the 4 doors instead of just the 3 that you get with the 97's & 98's. They're great trucks and I hope you find one you'll be happy with.

I ordered up a '97 as soon as they were available. It is one of the few trucks that I never had problems with. The only difference that I recall between the '97 and '98 was in '98 they moved the tail pipe behind the rear tire instead of in front of it. we had a lot of frosting over in the rear wheel/tire on cold winter days.
Good choice on the '97 or '98. My only advice would be to get a 5.4 L and assure it has a LS Dif.
Good Luck and happy hunting.

When you speak of the LS diff. do you mean the rear gears? And why LS?
Is it a better ratio or something?
