Wireless questions

Hey guys im trying to set up a sweet entertainment center and I have a question about wireless stuff, first an easy one:

Is there any 5.1 (or so) wireless systems yet? I searched google but couldnt find anything.

2nd:

Im looking for some kinda adapter/reciver that I can plug into my wall projector and have it recieve data from a computer/dvd/xbox/whatever located across the room? Ayone heard of anything like that?

Awsome question. I too would like a surround system but my living room is too big to run wires across without looking poorly

Wireless audio/video blows. Take your time and run the friggen' cable. And not the cheap crap, get good cable. Unless or course you buy cheap speakers, then good cable won't help you any...

They make 802.11 wireless projectors, but it's main for presentation applications. Not sure if it has the bandwidth or quality to pull of a crisp video image.

Well I guess I'm out of luck. I dont know the first thing about running cable through pre-existing walls and I'm certainly not going to pay to have it done.

Wireless is probably horrible to a true audiophile, but if it is your only choice try looking here

pioneer has a wireless system at walmart sounds good but the further the speakers get from the home base the more outside interferece there will be and the greater the distortion... its still best way is to just run wire.and yeh u can get a projector circuit city and best buy sell em or u could save money and buy em online. but only downside to em u cant see jack if there is a fair amount of light in the room. also the bulbs burn out in them fairly often.

I was affraid of that. I already got the projector, a 5 disk dvd changer and a 5.1 set up, but I was in such a hurry to set up I did it all ****ty (its just in my bedroom so I didnt care). But now I am going to redo it.

My only problem with the wire is not only do I have a gang of doors and windows in my room but the projector is pretty much going to be on a desk in the middle of my room and I really dont want to have all these tacky wires running to the midle of my room.

I guess the easy solution is to compromise and just find a really long video cable that I can run from the entertainment setup to the projector, then just worry about hidding one cable instead of tons.

why not just run the wire through thr acttick? all u need is a small hole.. but all depends on ur OC preference on how nice and professional u want it to look

The projector is going to to be on a desk/table, so if I run the cable through the attic then Ill have a cable going from celling to floor in the middle of my room, Ill just have to think about it a little more.

Mount the projector and rear speakers from the cieling.... much cleaner, easier install and then everything is tucked nicely away and off the floor..
As far as wireless... I agree the quality sucks! You might like it for about the first movie that you watched after you hooked it up. Until you either started picking up your neighbors phone with it OR you hear someone with a real system.... Especially if it is a 7.1 THX Thats my next one that I'm getting soon!
