Critical Flaw Found in Firefox - Yahoo! News
Firefox has unpatched "extremely critical" security holes and exploit code is already circulating on the Net, security researchers have warned.
The two unpatched flaws in the Mozilla browser could allow an attacker to take control of your system.

I love firefox but after a ton of reading I came to realize that it may not be that much more secure than IE with all its enhancements turned off.
You kill ActiveX, Java, etc and IE is pretty secure, granted it loses a ton of its features. The article points out a very important bit of info. The installed base is so much smaller that it is as likely to be attacked. Mac owners love to tout their OS security but it has more to do with the size of the installed user base. I get weekly updates on security flaws in OSes and Mac has their fair share of them.
I still love the tab feature in FF and it is my preferred browser.

I think Firefox is worlds ahead of IE and will use whenever possible. It has tons of extra features, tabs, super drag-n-go has turned to me into a lazy SOB.
Regardless, as more people will use Firefox the virus writers and wannabe-hackers are going to feel neglected that they are not stirring up as much trouble and they are going focus there attention to the newer stuff.
Many people will rave at how little virus destruction does to Linux/Unix/SUNstations etc., but imagine if those machines were as used as Windows/PC based machines.
Give a hacker enough time and ANY (complex) program will have security holes in it.
I always find it funny when people claim Windows is full of holes:
1) Id like to see them do better
2) If any other OS was as widely used thered be plenty of holes in it too.

Believe it or not, there actually are secure systems out there... Windows is full of holes regardless, and a system that is widely used or not has no relationship to the number of security flaws a program has. Get real!

If you have a Mac, Safari also has tabbed browsing. It's a great feature.

But everyone seems to think Windows is the only (major) OS that is insecure, which isnt true.
BTW....
For what its worth I do think Linux/Unix/Mac are inherently more secure than Windows. IF they all had an equally installed user base Windows would still be the most vulnerable by far. There are a lot of fundamental design problems with the Windows operating system. That said they do a fair job keeping the systems secure considering the flaws and the number of users.
