We Are Americans

The other thread got jacked, and I'm sure this one will too, but oh well.

Ya know, there are "African Americans" out there that agree with ole Ted Nugent. They were born in AMERICA, and consider their race to be AMERICAN.

I love how if someone differs in opinion, it becomes "borderline racism". Grow up.

This country is what it is because of the FREEDOM we have due to those who have DIED for it, and those who defend it now. ALL different colors of skin have done so. DO you know why? Because the countries that those people descended from did not ALLOW those freedoms. Their families migrated here (with the exception of slaves), and they felt that they owed their lives to defend OUR FREEDOM. THEY wanted to be AMERICANS. Not Africans, Mexicans, Oriental, Germans, Russians, French, etc..., but AMERICANS.

If you were born on these shores, you are AMERICAN.

Using skin color to discriminate is WRONG, but using it to claim special rights is WRONG also. That's what keeps the lines of seperation so strong. It's not only the racists in this country that need to wake up.

I just saw my cousin who is home from Iraq for 2 weeks. He stands side by side with every color of skin every day, helping those who do not enjoy our freedoms. They do not see colors of skin. They see BROTHERS. They call themselves AMERICAN soldiers. He's going back now, and he's proud to do what he's doing because he loves his country.

We're AMERICANS people, and to add any other country name before that beautiful word is disrespectful. Skin color has no place being an issue in today's AMERICA.

Fire away.

I agree with you whole heartedly and send up prayers for your cousins safety.

I am an American first and proudly call myself a Texan, as that is where I was born and raised. My heritage is both mexican and spanish. (Both parents were first generation Americans).

I have put up with prejudice from all types of people but the worst are other hispanics. There is a resenment for those who refuse to speak with an accent or live apart from the hood(barrio).

I own and operate two businesses in southern NJ and I refuse to business with people who will not speak english. My attitude is my own, but if your going to be using American dollars you damn well better use American words. I am not well recieved amongst some hispanics, but those who work as hard as I do (of any heritage) are my brothers and sisters in kind.

Also I will not spend my money at hotels, gas stations, donut shops or what not(Dell) where I cannot understand broken english. People think I am a hard liner, but they can kiss my @ss.
This country was built by people from around the globe who learned to speak properly.

I could go for ever, but I'll stop now.

I happen to agree with both your statements. Like SAXNBBQ I have a Hispanic heritage. I believe in my children learning about their heritage and their mothers being Native American. but.. first and foremost we are American, no prefix or suffix. I bleed red white and blue and have served my country in the USAF. I proudly fly my flag most every day.

I only wish that others would see people of color as Americans. Typically classifications are made. Perhaps because it is due to every time you fill out an application or most any form now you have to fill out a race classification. You are either white, non white Hispanic (what ever that means), black or other. I mean when will this country drop the coding of all Americans. Pretty soon with all the mixed race couples out there it will be impossible to be called one color. We are Americans unless born of a foreign soil.

I had read an article about a solder of Hispanic decent and he had said that he was called a Mexican because of his heritage. But only overseas he was an American in his uniform. Sad but true.

I wasn't going to mention my ethnic descent, but I think that Hoss put it well. I bleed red, white, and blue. (Ford Blue ) I do recognize the value of teaching children our family heritage. My kids both know quite a bit about their descendants.

My Grandfather is first generation from Mexico, Grandmother is from Italy, and the other Grandparents were German in descent.

BOTH of my Grandfathers fought in WW2 for AMERICA! They have their names on AMERICAN MEMORIAL MONUMENTS because of their service to AMERICA. I could not be prouder of that fact. Especially for my Grandpa Espinosa!

I love this country!!

I am one half French
and one half Polish.

I run from a fight like a coward but,
I run in the wrong direction right into the fight and people think I'm a hero.

I am also one half Antarctican where there are no schools to learn math but,
the rest of me is all American.
