Second layer of mud went on last night. I was a little worried about my first coat but, after some sanding it came out pretty darn nice.

Thanks again guys !

Good deal. It's a lot of work, but the outcome is a great feeling.

It looks great SUE1.
I see you already had a stomped ceiling.
I can understand why you wouldn't want to mess that up but, don't you have an exposed crack all the way around where the wall meets the ceiling?
It's hard to tell from the pic but it doesn't look like it was taped there.
At least you have a papered machine edge all the way around the top.

i had a corian sink installed and blended to the counter tops and the guy that did it took a cheap 24 or 18" box fan, and a cheap air conditioning filter, turned on the fan, it sucked the filter to it and when he sanded it made little if any mess of my house.
like everyone is saying, the pros need little if any sandpaper.

Raoul,

Crown molding is going up around the ceiling....... Hence why the crack is still there..... About 20 more hours of work and I can wrap this puppy up...

It's really cutting into my play time. Plus you should see my truck. It's filthy

That's the construction trade.
Good hangers cover up bad framers.
Good tapers and finshers cover up bad hangers.
Good painters cover up bad tapers and finishers...

Hope this helps

One idea that can keep the dust down ,, use a damp spong and rub the dry drywall filler like waxing gently. the water rehydrates and smooths out the filler. Works as a interm step to minamize the sanding can almost lead to a passable paint ready finish.

Works best on unpainted surfaces as the sponge will pull the filler off a finished surface at the edges.

Done this in the past in radio rooms and eye surgery clinic where we could not remove or dust up equipment.
