A new job..

Well I just wanna let everyone here know that on Monday I have an interview with the sales manager at my local Ford dealer for a vehicle sales/leasing position. If it all goes well, the potential is there to earn anywhere from $50k - $100k a year selling my favorite brand of vehicles (Ford, Lincoln, Mercury). Please wish me luck, I just need to find a way to tell my boss that I am not coming into work on Monday until later in the day AFTER my interview at the dealer. Also, should I get the job, and anyone wants to order a truck or other vehicle, you know who to turn to. Thanks in advance...

good luck with the interview...
as for the boss, just call and leave a message that you'll be running a little late in the morning, due to circumstances beyond
your control, then when you get in tell him you had to handle
a personal matter.... done...

That is cool and good luck.

It would be awesome to buy a vehicle from someone that actually knows how it works and all the neat little things it could do.

We were looking for a mercedes for my wife and when we were at the dealership it was a totally different experience. The salesman new EVERYTHING about the car (it was the small coupe, cheapest one they make, so don't think I'm a big spender). He was polite and he did everypart of the process. There was no sales manager, sales manager BS.

If you do start selling, get to be friends with the finance guy and sales manager. They will do a lot of closing for you and you want them to like and work with you.

GOOD LUCK.

I went to an interview last Monday for Boart Longyear drilling company. I should find out about it tomorrow.

Thanks for the well wishes. I have been told that without a college degree, sales is where it's at. I have done my research here, and I definitely know the products that I will potentially be selling. I've been a Blue Oval fan all my life, and I love my Fords. Let's hope it all turns out OK. I am gonna call my boss tonight and tell him "I am not feeling too well, I will be in a little later." **** him, I dont like him anyway...

Good luck...one advantage to your profession is people are allway's going to need wheals. I'm not so keen on ford, but this 04 f-150 has been excellant.

I also would advise you to keep up on the new products othier than ford, Not advising you to give ford a bad name, just from personal expeirance it is anoying for a sale's person to run down a rival product when they now nothing of the product thier selling...rear end gearing ect ect...don't answer qustions by reading the sales brocher. !!!!

Hope the consumer God's smile and fatten your wallet if your a deacent sales guy.

I've been studying the "competition" too, if you can even call it that. I mean, what do we have to work with? 4 inferior designs from 4 inferior manufacturers? Ram (blech!), Tundra (a Truckette), Titan (I wont even say it), and Sierra/Silverado (bringing you the same worthless pile since 1988). Ahh, I cant wait till tomorrow.

Thanks SAJEFFC, I am just looking forward to helping people get the car/truck they really want and also the increased income. I'll go from making $25,000 a year to $40,000 +, provided I can sell 4-6 cars/trucks a month, which is totally do-able. Now I just have to check with my accountant and see if this will bump me into a higher tax bracket.

It will! And raise your sites a little bit. We have long term good salespeople here (10 yrs+) selling 18-20 plus a month and a new guy with hard work can sell 10 easy. Treat people right and you will sell more than you ever imagined...good luck!

Thanks for your kind word... I was told the minimum to retain my job is 4 cars a month. And thats only one a week. I can do that EASY. Also, the general manager of the dealership told me "be agressive, but not too agressive." Like I said before, I just like to help people. That is all...

Thanks Linda..

Basically, as long as I get treated fairly, I will do fine. Thats the biggest problem with my current job. I receive unequal treatment because I work directly with the business owners' sons, and of course, there is some strong favoritism there, even though my boss won't admit it. I'm just lookg forward to an exciting career change. I have no college education, so I have been told sales is the way to go. Here's to me

Like I said before, if anyone needs ANYTHING related to a vehicle purchase or lease in Southern California, hit me up. This dealer I am going to be working for is a GREAT place, and I have confidence in the team there, otherwise I wouldnt have applied. Thanks

Congrats man, I love to see people get what they want and it sounds like you did by getting this job. If you keep the attitude of wanting to help people and treat them right, you'll do just fine.

You owe us all some beers with your first commission check.
