Fire

Tonight at work i smelled smoke and began looking around for signs of it. Well i opened the door to the rear of our building and the whole sky was lit up and the heat was so intense the door had to be shut. I took some pics but will have to download and post tonight. It turned into a 6 alarm fire and took out a warehouse stretching more than 4 blocks. 6 small explosions followed by some intense moments when the fire department had to hose our building down to keep it cool. Things happen on the midnight shift.!!!

Wow!

Biggest fire I've ever seen was the one that took out a portion of downtown Juneau last year. The hubby and I were bored and took a drive one evening. Got downtown and all sorts of thick black smoke boiling up above the buildings. We found a spot to park and watch the goings on for a while, it was quite a fire. Took them more than 8 hours to put it out. It destroyed a Subway and several other businesses. Pretty scary stuff.

LOL, you guys are a bunch of nuts!! No, there is no underground transit in Juneau!! We don't have permafrost here either, that's quite a bit farther north. We have regular soil, albeit a little soggier than some places. Juneau is situated in the worlds largest temperate rain forest. We get loads of rain and the ground does freeze in the winter but not permanently.
