Bluetooth Adapter Question

Okay... I have a Moto V710 Bluetooth phone...

I was talking with a buddy the other day that said he has a Motorola program (called Mobile Phone Tools) where he can rip mp3's into ringtones and up them to his phone via bluetooth.

I'm trying to figure out what I need...

Obviously, the software (done). I'm looking at this Belkin Bluetooth Adapter @ Circuit City...

Once both are installed and configured, will I be able to do this? Can anyone point me towards a board that deals with this type of stuff?

Thanks guys!

This is where I bought mine:
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...172&spf=1&sp=1

It works very good with my Sony Ericsson phone, and can upload to my roommates Motorola phone, but we can't figure out how to get the Moto to download the pics to his pc.
The phone can "see" his pc, but can't connect.

His is either the 220 or the 551 I think.

Where did your buddy get the mobile phone tools program?
Maybe this will fix his upload/download problems?

I have the Motorola V551 and I bought a "package" called Motorola Mobile Phone Tools which included a USB Bluetooth adaptor. I think I bought it from CellularAccessory.com or one of the other million of cell phone accessory places online.

Blah...

That actually answered my question... unfortunately...

NOTE: Currently, the Motorola V710 phone distributed in North America supports Mobile Phone Tools only through a Motorola USB cable (SKN6311) connection. NO RETURNS on opened software.
Looks like I need to find the USB cable.

Yeah, I found out about this software over at howardforums.com. When I bought mine, it said that the V551 was not yet supported via Bluetooth, but once I downloaded the latest patches, it was.

FWIW, I just launched PhoneTools and created a new profile using Bluetooth and both the V710 and V710m were listed...the latest version is 3.23 (upgraded through the software itself) and the version I bought was 2.0. (which may explain the website incompatibility statement)

I just bought the USB cable for my V551 off ebay. I think it was $5 shipped or something... I then "sampled" the phone tools from work. Not sure what phones the salesmen have but they use the USB cable and phone tools too...

I have been able to send pictures back and forth to my phone/pc (got the Mustang 40th anniv. emblem as my background), but haven't messed around with ring tones yet. I need a better music editor I guess, so I can just use the portion of the songs that I want...

Both of these you can learn anything you could ever want to know.

Howard Forums

Cell Phone Forums

I use the USB as well I am with Altell which is all CDMA phones so I use BitPim, and QPST (Both are freeware) to upload/download, activate/unlock hidden or inaccesable features , etc.

Then I use Audacity (Freeware) to edit and rip my own ring tones from any audio file. But read the forums to find out how to rip your ringtones for your phone all brands are different.

I would still recomend getting BitPim and QPST.. Search on those forums I posted earlier there are links every where on them for them. Both programs allow you access to different parts of your phone each, and that the others will not too. They will unlock the free games that are already on your phone taking up memory etc.

The new BrewII file system that most newer phone have is next to imposiable to do to much with. It is VERY VERY secure!!! Have no fear it shall be cracked soon...

However you manage to connect, you have to buy the software.

We bought a cable for our cell phone, but it didnt come with the software to connect to the phone (which they neglected to tell us we needed).
So the cable is just sitting in a drawer somewhere...

Psst go to those forums and find the freeware compatable with your phone... They are devided into sections designated specifically for each make & model of phones. Bitpim and QPST is compatable with almost everything... Freeware is FREE.
I have the same cheap $5 usb data/charge cable that I bought off E-Bay. Came with drivers but no software "XP already has the drivers". Until I found those forums and got the free software... There is also free tools you can download to use your phone as a modem and connect to a dial up. Free tools to Convert audio files to ring tones, etc. Cell modem is nice when traveling with the laptop and there is no WAN/LAN to be found any where around. If my truck breaks down I can hook my cell up to usb, come here and find what is wrong and might can get it going to get me home with out calling a tow truck..
