need help with a video camera connection

Hey guys, I borrowed a video camera from my buddy and he didnt have any cables to hook it up to my PC. My question is, which cable do I need (since I have to go buy one) to download the video and sound to my PC so I will be able to upload it to the net? Is it the USB cable or the DV cable? The camera is the Panasonic PV-GS9. Heres a picture of the connections, sorry its a little blurry.

Thanks guys

I'm thinking it would be the DV cable if DV stands for "digital video". I have a "USB" cable to download my pics off of my digi cam to my computer. You problably need the DV cable if your going to download videos. I'm not 100% sure, but someone who knows more than me about this stuff will problably be along shortly to help you out.

Since you have to go and buy one, why not take the camera along to the shop and get them to demo it to you just in case it's hideously complicated.

Just an idea.

EnglishAdam...that sounds like a great idea, but around here, asking for help with stuff like this is like pulling teeth, and it would end up in a 2 hour conversation about how the guy took video of he and his old lady down at the beach and seaguls shat all over them. Honestly, If it gets to that, I'll but both cables, and whichever one doesnt work, I'll take back.

ZAP...I cant wait

Go here, you can download the owners manual. It will tell you how to hook it up and what software and drivers you need.

The best way to get the video out of that camera is going to be a IEEE 1394 (firewire) cable. They look like this:

You will probably need a 4 pin to 6 pin, but they are available in 4/4 and 6/6.

Both cables will work, but the DV/Firewire/ILink/IEEE1394 is the fastest out of the two.

If I am not mistaken, firewire is frame for frame. USB you will not get the quality and is a little more 'jumpy'.
