2005 F-150 Lariat (X-Plan Pricing)

I went to N/C Ford (Richardson, TX) on Friday to test drive the new Freestyle. It rode exceptionally well with the CVT. It's funny not feeling shift points, but otherwise- it was a very nice ride- comfortable; car-like amenities, car-like handling and almost truck ride height.

But, I looked across the street and saw 2 (Count'em 2) 2005 F-150 Lariat's. JET BLACK, with 20" wheels and chrome running boards. It was $32K and some change...

Well, we went in to crunch some digits on the Freestyle- it was $31,000 and the X-plan price was $27,151. Not enough discount for me- so I asked what they could do on the F-150 I saw. Without blinking he said he could match that price on the SuperCrew Lariat (With floor shifter, and leather, running boards and 20's".

I know that's a great price- but I'm wondering what you guys have been able to get them for. With my X-plan, and the incentives my payment plan shows $388 on a 36 month lease or $450 for a 60 month buy. Provided they don't try to screw us too bad on our trade.

What would you guys do? Do you think that's a good trade? I only have 19 months left on the 01- I’m paying $379/month for it (XLT). Would an upgrade to a Lariat @ 388, even on a lease be a dumb move....?

I don't think so, but- then again, I'm a new-vehicle addict- so I may not be thinking clearly. I need an objective opinion.

Would you trade this?

I'd bad being a broke auto-lover...
Oh, if I had Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld, or Tim Allen's money!!

I'd show them what car-collections are all about!

I bought my '04 Supercab Lariat in April of last year. I unfortunately went way upside down on my trade though. Sticker on mine was $32K-something, invoice was $29K, D-plan was $27K, plus $1500 rebate, plus $7500 on my trade, but that all got shot to pieces when they rolled the amount owed on my trade in.

$32K is cheap for a Supercrew Lariat. If you wouldn't put yourself in a serious financial bind (think honestly about that; more people get themselves in trouble owning vehicles they ain't got no business owning...ask me how I know...), I'd do it. I'm not much for leasing, since I hold onto my vehicles for a while usually, and I drive too much to make it practical.

In 19 months you will own an asset worth $10k and will last you another 5 years.

Keep in mind leases are tough to customize, which it looks liek you like to do.

$32k sticker on X-plan is about $28. Should be $3k in rebates too, so your price seems high.

I'd keep the 01 for a bit assuming it's holding up well. Looks like you've got a bit o cash in aftermarket products as well... and you'll want to mod the new truck so that's thousands more out the window... you've already invested in your truck, enjoy it for a couple more years for pete's sake!

It's a Ford sales plan for certain qualified individuals that roughly equals $500 or so below invoice, with no charge on doc or admin fees. There's a specific formula for it I posted sometime back in the day; cross reference my name and "X-Plan" with a search and it'll pop up somewhere, I'm suffering from CRS right now.
