Buy American?

I had to laugh today as I was on my way to CostCo I pulled up to a light behind a car that had either an American consul or diplomat plate on it. I was surprised to see the car was a Hyundai Elantra. After all the talk of money going to Japan or Korea for vehicles you would think the American Government would support their own. Does that surprise anyone else?

If you see consul or diplomat plates here, in this country, then the vehicle belongs to a foreign national, not a US diplomat. Therefore, a foreign car would make sense.

and an Elantra would indicate lower level, lesser paid employee of the embassy/consul.
