What a sad state of affairs when we have to jump to the beat of political-correctness, eh!

MAn, when I was a kid, I didn't know any better. I loved the General Lee (Dukes of Hazzard) and the name "Rebel" was darn-near glorified...
Ole Miss Rebels, The Rebels in Star Wars, the UNLV Running Rebels.
I was and artist (drawing), I'd drawn a number of pics to my art teacher's approval. Then, one day we were asked to draw something; anything. Tired of drawing my usual (Tigers, Cheetah's, Aircraft, Tanks, etc.) I decided to draw a soldier. Problem was, it was a "Rebel" soldier complete with horse and confederate flag.
To say my art teacher tore me a new @$$ would be an understatement. She ripped me for being black and drawing confederate flags, and 'educated" me, in the harshest way as to what the confederate flag represented.. Needless to say, I didn't draw anymore confederate flags...
I don't jump to those conclusions today; but I have seen the confederate flag used in some movies in very unflattering ways- that did not represent southern pride by any means. That said, I susally wait until someone does or says something to offend me, before I make a judgement- and as far as I'm concerned, Green 98 hasn't crossed any line that would make me view him any differently today, than I did pre-confederate flag.
Silliness goes both ways though. In the Army they made all the white guys that had confederat flags remove them because it was considered oppressive. Then, they complained about the black folks that had Malcolm X pictures on the wall, or the "X" hats...
It's just amazing what power symbols hold...
I saw a young white guy the other day with the "SS" emblems tattooed on his neck. He couldn't have been more than 18. Now, does he really know how the "SS" soldiers contributed to history, or did he just thiunk the smblem looked "cool".
He wasn't blonde & blue, so he defeinitely wasn't the "prototype". It's good to know what everything means before we display it..
Now, which side should that earring me worn on if you're straight fellaz?
