Parting with the truck...
Gas is just too expensive. I can't afford $50-60 fillups while I'm in college trying to live on what little I have. Plus, I'm gonna need something a little more practical for city driving after I graduate next year.
These are what I'm looking at so far. All are used:
Volvo S70 (up to 2000)
Taurus SHO (1996-1999)
Jetta 1.8T and TDi
BMW 325i (e30 bodystyle; 1988-1991)
Any other suggestions? Looking for something with 4 doors, a little sporty, good mileage, easy on insurance, and reasonable on price. Any experience with these vehicles? As of right now, I'm leaning toward the Volvo.

Nah...I'll hang with ya Raoul....I don't like paying a lot for gas but I don't check the prices and drive around looking for another 2 cents. Just part of driving the truck.
Then again I've thought I wonder if the mustang gets better gas mileage. Crazy that my stang would be economy car.
"Come On Exxon....Can you get it to $3.00 bet ya can't...."

I'd stay away from the Volvos. Once they get older they arent as reliable as you'd think and are VERY expensive to get worked on.
It's not a 4-door but I like the SVT Foci. If you're looking for fuel mileage, just be sure to get something with a 4-banger.

Looks like the Jetta option is the no-brainer if you only figure in fuel cost...
Here is the information from the EPA for these vehicles:
(I chose the most popular engine, based on my recollection of these models. Some require premium fuel. The $ amount is the estimated annual fuel cost, along with city/hwy mpg estimates)
Volkswagen Jetta
4 cyl, 1.9 L, Auto(4)
Diesel 34 45 $864
Volvo S70
5 cyl, 2.3 L, Lock-up(4)
Premium 20 27 $1462
Ford Taurus
8 cyl, 3.4 L, Auto(4)
Premium 17 26 $1680
BMW 325i/325is
6 cyl, 2.5 L, Auto(4)
Regular 18 22 $1625

My neighbor has an 85 or 86 Volvo, it has over 200,000 miles on it and still runs great!! He also has a 2001 Volvo Cross Country with the turbo charged 5 cyl. Over spring break they drove down to Hilton Head in the '01 and the car went ker-put in an intersection and ended up having to get a brand new transmission at a Volvo dealer down there, they were without their car for the whole week!! Luckily they were staying with family. I love that car though. Just my two cents.
I think I saw somewhere an estimate of $2700 per year fuel costs for driving an F150. That's just over $50 per week, which sounds about right for me. So what would it take to justify giving up my Lariat to drive a second vehicle? Exactly how much could I 'save'? If I bought a car that got double the fuel economy, then I'd save a whopping $26 per week. But out of that savings I would have to pay for a second car, registration, insurance, maintenance, etc. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that this isn't an economical move.
Now let's say you want to sell your truck and replace it with a smaller car. If you need to sell a $25K truck and replace it with a $25K car in order to save $25 per week on fuel, then you probably couldn't afford the $25K truck (OR the $25K car) to begin with. But those of you driving around in 04-05 FX4's and Lariats have no business whining about fuel costs.
