It does better in frontal crash test than side crash test. I'm excited. My former bike was a v-star 650. It was low on power but looked great. This bike is fast as he!!. I can't imagine what a 1200 would be like.

Great solution and you can probably ride in winter where you live!

My other ride has always been a bike. You can see my current one in my gallery.

Nice Bike. My previous bike was a Yamaha V-star (pics in my gallery). It just didn't do it form me performance wise. What I really want is a Road King Classic but I can't swing it right now, so I decided if I couldn't get what I wanted then I would get something fun to ride. I didn't even care what color it was. I've got a 25 mile commute one way so it will be nice for that. I filled up today with premium for $9.77 and that should be good for about 250-275 miles.

PS. I was going to order my Magnaflow 15609 Monday, but I have put that money into the bike, so I'll put it off for now.

I don't get it, who forced them to do so.
Was the owner afraid of loosing customers.
I still wouldn,t sell 93 for the price of regular though.

Though I don’t want to pay any more money for gas then absolutely possible we still are not doing that bad here in America. When adjusted for inflation we are paying less money per gallon of gas then we were in the early to mid 80’s…

Here is some data that has been corrected for inflation. You have to correct for inflation to give an “accurate” picture otherwise your comparing apples to oranges.

Year - Gas price per gallon (in today's dollars)
1970......$1.32
1971......$1.31
1972......$1.23
1980......$2.42
1981......$2.43 - peak $2.99
1990......$1.42
1991......$1.44
2000......$1.75 - peak $1.94
2001......$1.68 - peak $2.00
2004......$2.12 - peak $2.44 (first quarter)

As you can see gas prices are below what they were in 1981 when they were at an all time high (corrected for inflation).

Another interesting chart:

fuel is down to $2.09 now.

Fuel prices will be determined on how the China economy does in Q3 and Q4... I see them dropping soon...

what I don't understand is that people sell their cars, go out and buy NEW Fuel Economic cars thinking they are going to save money.

I owe just over $3000 on my lightning. Now if I sold for $16,000, and bought something like a VW Jetta Diesel, I'd spend $25000.

So I have $13,000 from the sale and I buy a $25,000 car.

I'm now $12,000 in the hole.

That is a ***** load of gas to justify that expenditure.

Plus even if I bought a bike at $4000 used... that is still a TON of gas to justify the purchase.

Economically it doesn't make sense, considering the price of regular is about $0.15/gallon less than Premium.

Lets see $0.15/12,000 = 80,000 gallons of gas I'd have to burn to break even!

Some of us can't sell, I need my truck for business. Good thing I get paid for mileage. It wouldn't be advantageous to sell, even if fuel prices get more out of hand. Can you just imagine how your resale value on your truck would tank if gas prices got worse? Nobody would want them and everybody would be trying to unload them.

I doubt that resale value on pickup trucks would tank at all. I choose to drive a full-size V-8 truck because I want to, not out of necessity; the price of gas is a non-issue. Heck, I don’t even have a job and I’m not complaining

I-menace, I agree with you. I was looking at getting a 3rd car to conserve on fuel since we have 2 gas hogs, and it's hard to make the math work, unless you have cash sitting in the bank. If you are going to have to finance a car, you would have to drive it for a long time to get a return on it.

I bought my bike because I wanted one, the gas savings is just an added bonus. While I'm riding it back and forth to work this summer, it will pay for itself. In the winter when it's sitting in the garage, it will be a dead cost.

If I did sell it, it would only be because I'm getting a bigger truck!

People will pay over a buck for 16 oz of bottled water........ Then complain when it costs an extra .25 for a gallon of gas.....

Buying an economy car just to save on gas is not really going to equal out.... Unless you need the car and base it's added expense on that need, the gas savings alone will not make up for the extra insurance alone...... (in general.... )

I also tow a travel trailer, so I will always need the truck. The higher gas prices has not even detered my vacation plans either... Still plan on as many trips as I've always taken and going even farther on each one of them for the most part....

Life is too short to worry about gas prices.... Do what you want when you want and with what you want, or all you'll have is regrets later on!

Mitch
