It's all the pressure and stress of trying to bang the hottie in Algebra. If I hadn't nailed her by Senior year I'd have shot up the place too.

Well, same rule applies.. maybe he was trying to get the hottie in his son's algebra class. Tons of folks get pumped full of lead every hour, this is just a media frenzy since it was alround kiddies. Kiddies + violence = ratings.

The problem is caused by teachers grading the students homework in red ink, it's to stressfull for the students. But have no fear, the schools are correcting it.

Stressful' Red Falling Out Of Favor As Teacher's Choice

POSTED: 12:56 pm EDT April 4, 2005

WASHINGTON -- Of all the things that can make a person see red, schools are finding parents getting huffy about -- well -- seeing red on students' papers and exams.

The color red has become an issue for school officials across the country. Some schools have now put red on the blacklist for marking students' work.

At Daniels Farm Elementary School in Trumbull, Conn., teachers are no longer grading papers in red ink. Parents complained that students get stressed out by red ink. Blue and other colors are now being used.

Red has become so symbolic of negativity that some principals and teachers across the country are not touching it.

Joseph Foriska, the principal of Thaddeus Stevens Elementary School in Pittsburgh, Pa., has instructed his teachers to grade with colors with more "pleasant-feeling tones" so that their instructional messages do not come across as derogatory or demeaning.

Top pen and marker manufacturers -- including Bic, Pilot Pen and Sanford, which produces Papermate and Sharpieare -- are making more purple pens in response to rising rising demand. The companies say principals and teachers are largely driving that demand.

The disillusionment with red is part of broader shift in grading, said Vanessa Powell, a fifth-grade teacher at Snowshoe Elementary School in Wasilla, Alaska.

"It's taken a turn from 'Here's what you need to improve on' to 'Here's what you've done right,"' Powell said. "It's not that we're not pointing out mistakes, it's just that the method in which it's delivered is more positive."

Her students, she said, probably would tune out red because they are so used to it. So she grades with whatever color -- turquoise blue, hot pink, lime green -- appeals to them.

I read that.

Are We are raising our children to be whinny, wimpy, sissy, puss bags?

I dont think red ink is stressful, I think it's a teaching tool to help kids understand their weak points, and to try harder in the area's they need work on.

Society today is nothing like when I grew up....even Marine Corps boot camp has become "sissyfied".

When I was in school I got some papers back that had so many red markings on it, it made stop and think ...

Did I do my homework on red paper the other day?

I agree- To quote Wesley Snipes (Demolition Man)-
America 'has become a half-@$$, *******-whipped version of itself."

We need to quit coddling our children and kick them in the a$$. Nobody is gonna take it easy on them in the real world. Can you imagine how pu$$ our military is going to be in the next 5 - 20 years???

It's illegal to have a gun on school grounds, so I can't possibly understand how this possibly happened.

a female publicly pissed on another girl in front of a crowd... wow man ur gonna have a troubled time finding a g/f huh... my highschool was pretty bad but i was a recluse. people voted me to be the one who'd come in on a school shooting lol cause i was quiet and took alotta ***** from people. but i didnt let 4 years ruin the rest of my life i just ignored it wouldnt last long and i knew i wouldnt remember much of my highschool years later on and heh right now.. i cant remember all the names of the teachers i had senior year lol and that was onlt 2 years ago. so parents need to do something stop sheltering ur kids and trying to protect them from a world thats real.

jmeyerholtz, Do you live down town or something?

Yeah...i live in a small town and my school is nothing near as violent as most schools....but we are getting many more restrictions that seem to be endlessly pissing people off more and more. We have our share of fights now and then....but nothing serious has happened. But people walk out of class...leave school without privledges and skip classes all the time. We can't even leave for lunch if you don't have priledges.....i tried it today and some teacher caught me and my friend and threatened to reports us to the principal....so we left anyway...but came back within 10 minutes.

Some rules these schools have now days don't make sense and are just plain stupid....however some are needed and do make a difference....but that's mostly the ones that have been around for years. Now we have a cop at out school almost every day.....but he just stays in the office with the principal.....we never see him otherwise. When school gets out...the cop swarms around trying to catch people doing something wrong. I was driving around the block in front of our school and the turn this corner and this cop is in my lane and he quickly swerves out of my way.....thankfully he didn't stop me or anything, my truck would have crushed that damn car.

Well i guess i am kind of getting off topic here so i will just end this here... violence like this is probably caused mainly by bad experiences with teachers.....bad attitudes about school, in general, to a certain extent and probably some of the new rules and policies going into effect like dress codes....and PDA ( public displays of affection)....increased crack downs on people who have a bad history in school, smoking and drug wise... and increased cop activity around schools, which ISN'T always a good thing as people may think.

so yeah........

there has been times when im leaving to go to lunch and i get stoped by the security guard and he asks me how im doing and why i parked in the teachers parking lot. then he says something about my truck and then lets me leave. my school isnt too bad there are problems with drugs, some of my friends have been arrested for it. that is one thing i am never going to do, ive seen it ruin my friends lifes. but any ways if they could make the schools more interesting i bet there would be a lot less problems.
