Also the Titan is selling a lot more trucks. Demand went up 40% this month. Over 8000 sold last month compared to 5000 last year. It's catching on.

And demand for the Titan didn't go up 40%. Nissan-branded vehicles sales went up 13.8% over last year, and as a whole they had their best March ever. And that 13.8% had help from nearly the entire product line with new March sales records for the Altima, Pathfinder, Murano & Armada. Up 40%, that's comical...

'But several automakers reported soaring demand for trucks. Nissan Motor Co. posted a 33.3 percent increase in truck sales in March, including a 42 percent jump in demand for its Titan full-size pickup, which gets around 19 mpg on the highway."

I wonder how many of those Titans sold were the ones that had beeen sitting on the lots for a year and finally got marked down

GARDENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 1, 2005 Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) (Nasdaq:NSANY) made both industry and company history by reporting 1,013,295 total vehicle fiscal year-end sales. March total sales of 105,804 units for its Nissan and Infiniti divisions, a 12.6 percent increase versus March of last year. This milestone achievement made NNA one of only six automotive companies to have sold 1 million vehicles in the U.S. within a 12 month period in automotive history. In recognition of this achievement, NNA gave the one-millionth customer, Michelle Merson of Lexington Park, MD, her car for free (photo cap below).
NISSAN HIGHLIGHTS
-- Best month sales ever for Nissan Division
-- March sales for Nissan-brand vehicles were up 13.8 percent
when compared to last year with 92,221 units sold accounting
for its best March
-- Best month ever for Altima with total sales of 25,329
-- Pathfinder (7,345 units sold), Murano (7,131 units sold),
Armada (4,156 units sold) and Titan (8,202 units sold) had
their best March
-- Calendar year-to-date sales are up 14.4 percent with 232,717
units sold
INFINITI HIGHLIGHTS
-- Best month ever for Infiniti Division
-- Sales for Infiniti were up 5.3 percent from last March with
13,583 units sold
-- Exceeded pre-sell unit goal of the all-new M with 1,400 sold
-- G35 Sedan (4,851 units sold) and M (2,253 units sold) had best
month sales
-- QX56 (1,342 units sold) had its best March
-- Calendar year-to-date sales are up 3.8 percent with 32,083
units sold
NNA INFORMATION
-- It was the first time in NNA history to sell over 100,000
units in one month

-- Combined March sales for Nissan and Infiniti totaled 105,804
units, a 12.6 percent increase over last year

More information on NNA and the complete line of Nissan and Infiniti vehicles can be found online at www.nissannews.com or by contacting the corporate media line at 310-771-5631.
Now before you start spewing the numbers that show the Titan did in FACT grow by 42.x% over March 04, think that that was just a few months after it hit dealer lots. Hmmmm... selling 3,000 more units 12 months later than you did when you first introduced the truck.. well durrrrrr... there also up nearly 50% from last year in CYTD sales.. but again, not difficult to do with an all-new model. Look at any semi-recent new-model introduction.. huh.. huge sales increases over the first year it was introduced! Plus, with the tiny numbers we are talking (8200 vs 5500) it's pretty easy to rack up impressive % gain numbers.
Even if they continue to crack out 8000+ units a month, they'll just hit their first-year sales goal of 100,000 units. It's not like they are selling 40,000 a month..
Again, that 40% figure is comical...

I gave a link to the 40% being a fact. If you read the article is the demand not how many are being sold.

EXACTLY! 40% increase on SFA is still SFA.
Last I checked, which was probably a few months ago, we sell more Fords in one month than Nissan does in one year.
I don't have exact figures, too lazy to look them up at this point, but thats what I heard one of our top execs say.
Believe me, Ford is not taking the Nissan or the Toyota (Toyota is a city in Japan by the way), or any of the competitors lightly. Trucks are our specialty, not to mention our
bread and butter!
There are also rumors going around the Ford dealer community about the new 6cyl LCF diesel motor winding up in F-150's along with the torque shift transmission in two short years.
These are just rumors at this point, there has been no formal
announcements from Ford that I know of.

I have to chime in on this since I am a new Ford owner (with a family discount on GM's and Chrysler's)...I too looked at a Titan but gladly gave it back after I drove it. The engine was weak, the power swithces were awkwardly placed, and the seats were ROUGH to sit on. The only think I did like was the truck bed rails/organizer system. They're overpriced cr@ppy trucks.
As for Dodge...looked a little, and then walked away. Even with the discount I thought it was too much to pay for what I drove. I've had bad luck with Chrysler vehicle transmissions, and I hear things aren't much better now-a-days
Chevy...make a solid truck, but lack the functionality of Ford. They seem to be playing "keep up" with Ford and not doing a good job at it. Their version of the SuperCrew is pathetic!
So how'd I get a Ford...went to the dealership to look at a new one, and they just took in a 2004 that was turned-in on a commerical lease. The owner gets a new truck annually, and with the discount they were willing to offer me, I bought it on the spot! There is the full balance of the warranty, plus I was able to buy extended coverage!!
Two months as an owner, and I am THRILLED with my decision. The 5.4L Triton has enough power for my needs, and gets the same mileage as my mid-size Chevy I sold....
