Another Hand Gun Question Thread...
I am pleased to see that there are obviously several gun enthusiast on here as well as F150 enthusiast. So I want to ask all of you if you can help me. 5-6 years ago When I bought my first (new) pistol, at the shop there was what I belive if memory serves me correctly some. NEW Lady Smiths I know that they were .25 Auto, Stainless Steel, with White or Pink grips, and Built in laser site fairly cheap like $225 at that time. I almost bought my wife one then but we really didnt have the money so I bought the one I had saved for.
Well I have not been able to find this gun again. Recenlty my wife and one of her coworkers/friends was assaulted in the parking lot when leaving work. They got away and I bought them both a stun gun to carry from now on. They caught the guy on tape and he was arrested 1 week ago with several other assaults in this parking lot too. But I would still like to get my wife to CCL class and one of these for her to carry in her purse now more than ever.
I know that the .25 dosen't carry a lot of stopping power but with her experince (or lack there of) I think it would be perfect for her so she won't be to scared of the recoil when pulling the trigger. IE. Less second thoughts if she is ever attacked again.
But since it has the built in laser site and was still very small the laser site will often detour an assailant even more than the actual gun because they see and KNOW right where the bullet is going if they scare her into pulling the trigger.
Any help locating/identifing this gun would be appreciated.

Might wanna try Gunbroker.com. The High Road and The Firing Line have tons of info, if anyone could find what you're looking for, it'd likely be someone on one of those two boards.

That could turn out worse

She would rather be shot dead than raped, torturted for no telling how long and then killed. Maybe she can dilver a fatal blow in the process and save someone else.
PSS-mag, has she tried firing something like a 38, or are you assuming she will have a problem with it. Take her to a range where she can try different calibers and see what she is comfortable with. She may surprise you and say she wants snub nosed 357.
they are right take her to the range, my wife surprised me she now uses bereta 92sf, and is good with it she is getting good with my 1911 45 also, pretty soon she will be firing my desert eagle or my 454 cassul, she loves the 12 guage, just something to think about

I recommend something simple and easy to use like a .38 or .357 lightweight titanium revolver. Much better for purse carry. She can also fire without taking it out of the purse, coat pocket etc.

In a CCW last ditch emergency gun you don't want fancy junk like scopes or lasers hanging off of it. Point and shoot.

She is a crack shot with most any long gun. But she isn't familiar with pistols so they make her nervous. I have had her shoot my S&W 22A .22 cal. Auto, My Colt New Frontier model .22 revolver, my dads Ruger MK II .22, my dads S&W .357, her step dads .38 Special, and his .25 auto. She liked shooting the Ruger MK II the best, but it is only a .22 and is longer than she wants so she liked the .25 auto a little better. When she seen those lady .25's with nickel finish and pink handles it looked feminine so she liked that too, I think that is the selling point for her.
The .25 autos she wanted that we seen have the laser site and switch both integrated into the handle. It has been the most equiped weapon I have ever seen for the displacement of it's size in volume.

PSSmag, I just did some looking around at S&W. It doesn't look like they make the Lady Smith in 25. On their website, they don't even list a 25 cal.
You might look at something like this.
http://firearms.smith-wesson.com/sto...sw_activeTab=1
It's a 22mag, which is probably just as powerful as a 25 and makes a louder bang to scare off the scum.
As far as Lady Smiths, I saw 5 models, 2 in 38, 2 in 357, all revolvers and 1 9mm semi-auto.
I am sure if you look around at other manufacturers, you could find something in 25. I won't guarantee you will find anything with a laser, especially fairly cheap.
The best I could suggest, if this is a model no longer made, is check your local gun shows where you have a bunch of different dealers, all in one place to see if they have any used or may know where to get one.
Edit: Here is a sight that might have at least some of the gun shows in your area. It is the NRA's American Rifleman regional section.

Yea I went to S&W too. I've been looking at pawn shops and used gun shops recently. I ussally go to most of the gun shows in a 60 mile radius of me. I have not seen this gun at any of them since that time at any of them. It's crazy.. Now I am starting to feel stupid for not buying it when I had the chance. It was almost one of those to good to be true scenarios so made me shy away some too. It was a reputable gun shop and everything. Plus since they were new I figured they would be there for a while and could get one later if she wanted to. I can remeber them well because they had them displayed right under the gold plated DE .50 that I sat and drooled over for a while. At that time the gold plated DE was only $1500.

The main thing is to let her pick up every gun in the place. Comfort with the weapon is above all the most important thing in a handgun IMHO.
What makes a handgun user effective is practice. A gun that someone is afraid to shoot, or just doesn't feel right is hard to practice with and depend on. A handgun being an extension of the hand, it shouldn't be awkward or unwieldy.
a few years ago, when I wanted something that was easier to conceal and carry than my my full size .40 sw, I had my mind setup on a little .380 or some other small auto. After handling many of them, I was just terrified of catching the meat of my hand when shooting, and they just didn't feel right. Ended up walking out of there with a little Taurus Titanium .38 Special. Never in a million years would I have thought I'd bring that gun home before I went shopping, but it just 'felt' right, and that's the most important thing. It needs to be comfortable and un-deliberate when you need it to be.

^^Exactly^^
Thats what her and I both like about dads Ruger MK II .22. Everyone who has shot it agrees that it is just like pointing your finger at the target. It's almost like you have to try and miss when you shoot it. It's so much fun to plink with, I actually prefer it over my own S&W, the down side is that it has a 5" barrel and she carries some smaller purses than that sometimes.

I just did some looking around for smaller automatics. Both Beretta and Taurus make 25acp autos. Little tough to tell by pictures, how small, but think they are about the size you are looking for. I would not ignore small frame revolvers though. With a hammerless model, fitting in a purse would probably not be a problem. Assuming your wife isn't like some women (no offense ladies) who like to take along the whole medicine cabinet. If so she would have the room, but wouldn't be able to find the DE .50. Another thing I like about a revolver is you can keep the hammer on an empty cylinder and still be ready to fire.
I'm off to lodge now so I'll make a quick point.
IF you are going to get her a 'small' or mouse gun, get a 380 auto. In the event that you're wife needs a gun, you want her to have as much power as she can reliably handle. Experiment with diferent handguns first (any buddies that shoot?). The 9mm while on my fecal roster is an okay round with the right ammo it's a good self defense gun. Kahr makes some pretty nice guns for the price that will fit in a pocket/purse etc. Also the 9mm has negligible recoil.
While I'm gone check out http://www.pre-ban.com/forums/

Lastly, caliber is not always equivalent to recoil. My Glock 27 (.40 S&W) has more recoil than my Kimber Ultra CDP .45 with a 3.5" barrel.
Hope this helps.
BTW, thanks and congrats for wanting to make sure your wife is able to defend herself.
