Johnnie Cochran didn't get OJ off.

Mark Furman did that singlehanded.

Forgetting OJ...

He was pretty freaking entertaining in that trial.

And Chris Rock had a hillarious line Lethal weapon because of JC.

"You have the right to remain silent, so shut the **** up. You have the right to a lawyer. If you cannot afford an lawyer, we will find the dumbest son of a *itch on earth for you. And if you hire Johnny Cochran, I'll kill you!"

I cracked up...

Just a few words:

He had a role to play and he played it rather well.

As an ex cop, I knew/know that defense lawyers are paid to get their clients off. They are not the judge, not the jury, they are the defense lawyer. Beware the prosecutor who does not build an airtight case when you are up against someone like Cochran, who by the way, did a hell of a lot of probably free work for others of his race that he thought were being railroaded which some of them certainly were.

Aside from that, he was a very entertaining individual. Played his role and played it well.
May I edit this post to say that I do not think that the current efforts of the Rev. Jesse Jackson relative to the Shiavo and the M. Jackson cases reflects well on his positioning to be the champion of the "mistreated". Jesse, to me, is neither entertaining nor interesting. Just an additional thought.
Bill
