Am I missing something?

Why are Congressmen using our tax dollars, and their valuable time, having a hearing on steroid use in baseball?

Shouldn't they be doing something important? Like fixing the economy, balancing the budget, doing something about the war(s), governing the country?

What is this foolishness/grandstanding costing us in tax dollars?

Am I missing something here?

1) The President mentioned steriod cheating in his State of the Union address.

2) Republican Senate

3) Republican House

4) 51% Republican majority amongst voters.

What this adds up to is if anyone has a problem with anything that occurs inside the Beltway they can Pound Sand.

Ding, ding! We have a winner!

Politicians need face time. After all, what ordinary American is going to tune-in to a judicial nominee fillibuster on C-Span 2?

This is a great opportunity for opportunist politicians to get in front of the camera with a topic that some Americans can relate to.

Hey, the next presidential election is right around the corner.

May I humbly request the following congressional investigations?

- Michael Jackson. This crap has gone on long enough.
- The moon: is it really made of cheese?
- My truck: I have this PCV problem that won't go away.
- Robert Blake: no way he's innocent.
- Gas prices: why am I paying for energy-trader speculation?

Steroids in baseball, that's something congress can look into once EVERY OTHER DAMNED PROBLEM INCLUDING GOVERNMENT WASTE AND SPENDING is solved, and not one minute before.
