I thought it would be about that much.
I only have about 8 grand now, I have to get some more paper for the printer.

Unless you'd be willing to take a check for the diff?

My 1998 F150 was good, but somewhat underpowered. My 2004 is MUCH better. I 'd vote for 1999 or newer...

97 was a great year. I am at 135,000 trouble free miles when your 01--05's get that far without any problems let me know!!!.
oem rear brakes(?), oem battery, just one torsion bar in 8+ years, do the math...

The P.I. heads give you more HP and TQ (I think it went from 230 to 260 HP?, not sure about the TQ ratings).

Also, as for the spark plugs, I dont believe they changed to 8 threads until '03? So that will probably be too new for your budget.

edit:
Ted'98 has some good pictures in his gallery that show the difference between P.I. heads and non-PI heads. Neal might have some in his gallery as well.

editx2: here's another link for Ted: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/558234/2
and apparently Neal took all his pictures out of his gallery?
