Iused Spybot and Adaware only for a while and they worked fine; but, evetually they weren't enough any longer. I bought Spyware Doctor and it's made a big difference. You can get it here....

Theres a free scan to show you what's on your computer before you buy. It's been worth every penny so far.

I have a nasty virus right now and have been logging some time on different computer geek websites. Well I have basically accomplished nothing so I am going to have to take it in. Anyway, I have found some great spyware and anti virus stuff.

If you want go here and just start reading some of the threads they will give you ALL SORTS of different programs to run.

General MEGA geek site

When I say geek I mean no harm. It freaking amazes me how smart some of these people are.

If you have Mcafee or Norton in hand and can unistall and re-install. Use this antivirus program, I had Mcafee and used this and it found alot of other wierd stuff.

A different anti virus

Good Luck!

Here is a good review of the utilities. While I haven't purchased the one they recommend it may be a good way to go:

I use windows XP and now they have an “up to the minute spyware program” they send you once a month with automatic updates. It runs and does its thing and then it deletes itself. Every month you get a new one.

After you get all cleaned up, ry this too...

I feel that IE sucks, and now only use mozilla. You can get it free at www.mozilla.com . No harder or different to use, cept the lack of spyware crap/problems.

I had the same thing. I was on my way home one day and heard a radio show with Kim Kamando. She is a computer guru that has a web sight with free downloads. computer kamando .com, not sure of the spelling but it will pull up on google search.

She has a anti virus download called gizmart or giz something like that.

Once I installed it and cleaned 337 viruses my computer is back to normal. I also run microsoft beta anit spyware.

Hope this helps.

try this free virus scan

Trend Micro

and for the **** just set up a guest account and use that for surfing. A guest account won’t have administrative privileges so crap can’t secretly download to your computer

Vader,

Well, thankfully I did get it out with one more scan using Kaspersky Anti-Virus, it was a Ceres Virus and another one. I didn't close down everything before and scan in safe mode with explorer stopped. This time it found 20 viruses. Thats neat. I was infected by trying to get some programs from a less than reliable source (cough, cough, limewire, cough) Great for music but watch the programs. Yeah, I didn't know what BB was going to do I was just tired of dealing with it plus I am fulltime at an online college so it was really making me angery.

Well after running about 5 different spyware, spybot, spy - whatever programs, anti virus, trying it in safe mode and on and on. Not to mention how friggin pi$$ed off I was getting, I decided to just restore my entire system. I lost a few things but nothing major. My pc is just a big email machine and portal to f150online, so no big deal with the few things I lost. I was really doing fine with Norton antivirus and internet security, but now im worried its not enough. What do you guys suggest I use to protect my system from getting infected with spyware again?

Thanks for all the help here tonight, unfortunately my attitude got the best of me and I ran out of patients trying to fix the problems and decided before this thing went out the window, it was best I just cut my losses and restore the whole thing.

Now go install the MS antispyware and a good anitvirus... Norton is crap these days - too many problems and too manyt high profile vulnerabilities...

I have links to Adaware- spybot avg antiviruys and the MS antispyware stuff all on my site
