At least Clinton opened the reserves...
At least Clinton opened the reserves to give us a break at the pumps when OPEC tried to sexually molest us 5-6 years ago... Is George blind, deaf or just doesn't give a damn?
Fockin' gas prices are ridiculous. We protest the middle east, and we're the number one customer... We should be getting the employee and loyalty discounts....
Gas up $0.11/gallon over yesterday...

Yea and they were saying on the local radio station earlier this week that we could expect to see over $2 a gallon with in the next week! That will be a record high price for us if it gets that high... The highest we've seen was $1.98
Exxon posts record profits! That really does **** me off a little more than a lot. I'm thinking 4 cylinder for the first time in my life.

Every time I travel - or read posts like this from members around the country - I always laugh.
California, and Los Angeles in particular have the highest gas prices in the country. Add to that the fact that our gas here contains more additives and oxygenation processing that any one else (read that as reduced mileage) and it only makes it worse.
Right now, the avg. price around here for Supreme Unleaded (91 octane) is about 2.55 a gallon. On Trancas and PCH here in Malibu, it's 2.89 a gallon (same for the 76 station down the way and at the 76 station at the Colony)
Not only is it pushing 3 dollars a gallon, but ever since they required the addition of MTHB (or whatever the hell it's called) milage has dropped considerable (a measured gallon of fuel is actually less than a gallon as it is so heavily oxygenated that it burns faster and you get less mileage) . . . so in reality it's even more expensive for gas than just the price alone.
Meanwhile, my cousin in Florida is paying something like 2 dollars a gallon and complaining.
Give me a break.
And here I am bitching and it's worse in Europe . . . so it goes.
So be happy with your 1.90 a gallon and just remember some of us are paying a buck more a gallon (and that's for self serve . . . it's over 3 dollars a gallon if you do the "full service" thing).
Carry on.
That was my point...We have been hovering between $1.70-$1.78 for the last several months...If we are going to go over $2 a gallon from that price. Then what do you think yours is going to do? I'm pretty sure it wont go down...LOL
It has already jumped to $1.85 from $1.77 on Friday...
What pisses me off is that I have a friend with a body shop with 2 location across the street from one another. Both are next to or across from the station I get gas at...I have seen them change the sign and not had a truck deliver a load so they are charging the higher price for the gas that they paid the lower price for...

Fairly soon gas stations will be investing in a new sign, instead of the classic sign you will see the little plastic numbers replaced with slot machine reels so they can keep up.

Here's a shot that was taken last summer . . . after a while it went down and now it's 4 cents a gallon more. (Posted just in case you've never seen prices like this on a gas station sign . . . don't panic, just tell yourself that California is not Missouri, and gas prices in Missouri will never get that high . . . hopefully)
As for what will happen here . . . oh, without a doubt gas here will pass 3 dollars a gallon for supreme unleaded by summer.
Soon, you're gonna need one of these babies to pay to fill up your tank.

Like I said the local news is calling for us to get to over $2 a gallon by the end of this week. Percentage wise if you rise the same you will be $3 or more in the next few days....If it keeps rising at the same rate it has the last few years $5 a gallon is only 3 or 4 years off. I'm already tempted to build me a still back here in the hills and convert my vehicles over to moonshine corn fuel...
In practical terms this isn't a huge deal. At least for me. My local radio station said prices were expected to rise 25 cents in the next few days and I've been wondering what took so long. Gas prices are the same as when oil broke $42 per barrel. Oil is now at $53 per barrel and gas prices are just now starting to move?
25 cents per gallon is $5.00 for 20 gallons. I fill up once or twice a week. I don't run my tank empty and usually put about 20 gallons in. So a 25 cent rise in price will cost me an extra $5-$10 per week. Inconvenient, but not life-altering. If this is going to have a major affect on your financial health, then you probably have no business driving a $20K (or more) truck.
Yeah, call me a jerk. I've been called worse. But it's amazing how hard some people complain every time gas goes up a few cents. If you're running a business and buying 100 gallons a day, then it's a big ordeal. But you then have to pass the price along just like everyone else. Oil companies and OPEC have us by the *****, just like a dealer has complete control over a junkie. They charge as much as the market will tolerate without going into a tailspin. If the economy starts faltering and oil consumption drops, they will drop prices quickly to recover. If a few whiners squeel loudly but otherwise consumption is strong, prices will still have a steady upward pressure.

For all you Clinton supporters, think of it like this.
George wants you do be able to drive your SUV. The rest of the world wants George to ban your SUV. The Democrats want you do lose your SUV.
By not stopping the rising cost of gasoline, George is allowing you to drive your SUV, but knows that you will drive it less, and maybe that you'll buy a four banger with good milage too. Thus, he is allowing you to have your freedom, plus, he is doing his part to work with the EPA to clean up the air by you driving your SUV less.
Also, the democrats should be happy, because if you don't drive your SUV, your not being, and I quote "Unfairly Safe" in an accident with another vehicle.
Plus, you would have one less thing, as a democrat, to gripe about as far as the Bush administration goes.
W is da man. Start liking it.

and what about bottled water.....
I went and bought a small bottle, maybe a quart, and it was $1.00. What in the worls are they thinking? I cannot afford to pay in the neighborhood of $4.00-$5.00 for a gallon of water. Who do these BIG water companies think they are charging us so much for plain ole water??? I may have to give up drinking water all together.
Yeah Kobi, that's fine to say- but the gas prices are going to soar above $3.00 a gallon in California too.. Gas isn't just going up everywhere else, it's going up everywhere in the US...
And, the typical wage earner in California makes more money than the typical wage earner in the other 50 states. Everything is expensive in California. The average house here costs $220,000 for a 3 BR, 2 Ba, 2 car garage.. the same house in the Oakland/San Fran Bay Area would cost $800,000.00. The average house in teh bay area costs $670,000.00.
People are always quick to tell us we should be happy to pay more because of what they pay in Europe... We don't live in Europe, and Europe doesn't purchase as much from OPEC as we do....
Odin, I hear you- I've always liked the Ford Focus- too bad the SVT isn't made anymore.. I'm torn between that and a Toyota Matrix.... I never thought I'd hear myself say- "I want a 4-cylinder." http://www.buyatoyota.com/configurat...6&series_id=19

This is the exact reason every tax paying American should be FORCED to receive a tax bill every month in the mail. One for your federal income taxes and one for Social Security taxes. It should be illegal for anyone to have taxes taken out of their checks.
Why, because when its taken out of your check its “out of sight, out of mind” If everyone was FORCED to pay their own taxes after receiving their monthly tax bills from the federal government people would not be so interested in gas prices going up and down but rather why they have to pay so much money to the government and for what????
Same thing happens when the banks talk about raising their fees, especially ATM. People freak out like the world is coming to an end.
Don’t get me wrong I think gas prices suck big time and please don’t compare our prices to prices overseas like in Europe. Europe does NOT have higher gas prices then we do, they have much higher taxes in their gas price for their socialist policies and that is why it cost a lot more per gallon then here in America. Remember, unlike in America, Europe’s own people LOVE and elected to pay much higher prices at the pump…
If gas prices doubled from today’s price I would have to pay an extra $40 - $60 a month to fill up. Now while that really sucks I pay in the neighborhood of $870 a month in federal taxes. Go ahead and look at your pay stubs and add up what you pay for federal income and social security taxes, do the math and then see what your monthly bill would be if it was sent to you like a car payment or credit card payment…
Gas prices aren’t so bad now are they?
What is really funny is some people that have vehicles like the Lightning or tuned vehicles that must or should run 91 – 93 octane fuel. Some whine like little babies about needing to change their tunes so they can run 87 octane because of the price increase.
If these people can NOT afford the price difference between 87 and 93 octane they need a different vehicle then what they currently own because you’re talking very little money in the difference. It is usually a 20 – 25 cent difference between the price of 87 and 93 octane. In New Hampshire its only 20 cents difference, if 87 is $2.00, then 93 is $2.20, so on a complete fill up of 25 gallons you’re looking at a grand total of $5.00 or possibly $20 per month
