Good Mileage
Good Mileage
I cant believe the mileage I'm getting. The truck has got 20K miles on it, and I just bought it 1 month ago. I wasnt too happy with the mileage, 14.5 city, 18.8 Hwy. The Lariat has got a 5.4, 3.55 gears. It should be better, a little anyway. It already had one flow master muffler. Sounds pretty cool. I just took the old air filter out, which was real dirty. Actually, I couldnt find an OEM filter so I bought a K&N. I put it in and immediately noticed a big difference. Filled the gas tank and reset the computor. I'm down to 1/4 tank and the computor says 17.3, in the city. Can yall believe that. I'm impressed. I dont know if it's the K&N or just having a clean air filter. I read other post about getting bad mileage. It is hard though keeping my foot out off the gas pedal with the new found power and sound. I cant wait till I take a road trip to try to sqeeze out 20mpg. Well, I'm just happy, just though I would share the news.
CR, Before you trade it in, figure out how much you'll save in gas over an amount of time. I personnally dont think the added gas mileage is worth the downsizing in trucks or SUV's. Example :
12,000/yr driving, approx. 231/week, $1.75/gal
F-150, 17.5 mpg on hwy. 13.2 gal/week @ $23.00/week
Toyota Tacoma, 22.5 on Hwy. 10.2 gal/week @ $18.00/week
These figures might be a little low, but anyway the difference is
$ 5 bucks /week. You cant hardly get a combo meal at a fast food resturant for that. Do you really want to give your truck up for that chump change. Plus, those little trucks cant pull a big boat, large trailer, etc. . Why dont you get a older little rice burning car to zip around in and keep that F-150?

Good MPG
I heard on the news people are buying more hybreds in California, and California is making less money in their gas tax, and they are thinking up another way of making up the lost money on gas tax by taxing the mileage on ur car. btw, if you switch to Amsoil you will even get better mileage.
