I am alive!!

Well after a week of battling pneumonia i must say i am doing better. I can't even think of the last time i was ill. This one quietly punched be in the head from behind. My temps was so high i was going to go lay in the open end of my pond for a spell but better half did not recommend this as a viable option. I am somewhat back to normal and just wanted to tell you all STAY AWAY FROM PEOPLE. they have so many illnesses and are more than willing to give you one.

Welcome back, glad to hear you are alive and on the mend. I was thinking about you the other day and wondered why we hadn't seen you around the past week. Pneumonia sucks I have never had it but my hubby did a few years back and it knocked him flat for 4-5 days and took a good 3 weeks for him to feel completely normal again.

Hope you are 100% ASAP.

100% yet?

I hope so. This forum would get pretty boring without a buckdropper. BTW, I could use some deer jerky.

I'm glad YOUR better Arctic Cat F7.

Here's why:

Advanced bacterial meningitis can lead to brain damage, coma, and death. Survivors can suffer long-term complications, including hearing loss, mental retardation, paralysis, and seizures.

Think of a migraine headache X 100. Within 4 hours of getting it I was in intensive care and getting brain scans and hearts scans. All within 4 hours from nothing to intensive care! I was told it kills within 24 to 48 hours if not treated. Likely no damage occured and plus I live within 5 minutes of the hospital. Pure luck that this hopsital speciaizes in desease control.

I got chicken pox at age 26.

After surviving outbreak after outbreak during my school & early army years, combined with the fact that my Mom, Dad, and Grandparents never had it- I thought I was immune.

Then, in 1995 as I walked through Hilltop mall in Richmond, California, I heard this lady say- "Yeah, we've been in for the last two weeks, my daughter had chicken pox" I was like damn- I hope I don't catch that crap (She and her daughter were out, but I didn't see the daughter, but was within earshot 20-30 feet of her Mom, and overheard her cell phone conversation.) A week later I was in Killeen, TX finding an apartment when I noticed a funny bump on my forehead- that I mistook for a zit. As most men would do, I popped it. It popped easily, but in a funny way. As the days passed I felt a bump under the skin in my hand, one on my forearm, etc. *I don't know if I got it from her since chicken pox has a 21-day incubation period~ I probably got it on the flight back from Korea.*

Still on leave, I drove to Mississippi. Mom demanded that I go to the ER- which I did. Two tubes of blood later Doc said- "If I didn't know better, I'd say you had chicken pox; I can't find anything else.

The next day, one of Mom's friends said- "You should drink something hot so they'll come on out because chicken pox can kill or sterilize a man your age if they stay on the inside. I drank two cups of coffee and one cup of tea- and within 4 hours, I'd gone from about 6 bumps to about 600. I was platted with chicken pox~ they were everywhere, and when I say everywhere, I mean everywhere. They were on my scalp so I couldn't comb my hair, I had at least 100 in my face, they were in my nose, down my throat, in my hands, under my feet- they were on the beans, but didn't get on the frank. I was miserable... I couldn’t sit down in comfort, I couldn't lie down.. Calamine lotion became my best friend. Have you ever seen a pink black man?!

After about 10 days, they scabbed over, and then the fun started. There is nothing quite like rolling over and tearing of 10 scabs at one time~ that'll wake you up every time..

14-15 days later, the scabs were 90% gone, and my face bore the marks of a severe acne victim that popped every bump. After another 2 months, my face cleared up, except for one pit that I still have today.

I've had the flu, bronchitis, and walking pneumonia- and all have made me more physically ill than the pox did; but of all the diseases I've had, the chicken pox at age 26 hurt me the worse and still rates as the worse two weeks of my human life.

Like the Matrix agent said in the soda commercial: "You are all just batteries. Walking, talking, eating, breathing, disease-ridden batteries."

I didn't think the calamine lotion was working, until I developed a tooth ache nd tried to go to the dentist. I washed off that lotion and before I got 2 miles from home I had to do a u-turn and go get it. I tried the clear, but all it did was make me greasywhen it went on, then it dried up and had me looking like I was a snake shedding its skin...

Miserable.....

I was in pain (chicken pox) and agony (toothache); I explained my condition and this one dentist said he'd see me, but I had to come at 4:30 PM (last).

When my wife and I walked in their they were like, "Aw Hell naw... You can't come in here like that.

That was my first taste of discrimination. Disease discrimination!

I had to suffer the toothache for days; but as the pox cleared, the toothache subsided as well.
