Service your own vehicles or else...

I took my truck to the dealer for service because the warranty was about to expire and I wanted some things looked at.

I was walking around the lot looking at the new Mustangs and waiting for my brother to show up there for work. Low and behold I spot a truck that just took my breath away. It was such a beautiful sight.

It is a '05 F150 FX4 Silver metallic with Ghost flames, painted, not decals. A 6" Rancho lift with 20" wheels and Nito terrain grabbers,I think. After I awoke from my dream state. I walked around it, touched it, smelled it and carressed it. Then I looked at the sticker. That's when my elation came to an end.

My brother showed up and I told him what happened. He said "Let's check it out". We looked at it and he told me I could use his D plan and the sales manager who we usually go thru walked up to us on his way into work. He said great timing, we just started a sales event with dealer incentives and factory rebates to boot.

Oh heck, that was it. I said let's see how the numbers add up. He made me an offer that no one could refuse. So I ended up trading my '01 in. It was less than what I expected, of course, but my brother bought it from them for the trade price.

I'm going to miss my old '01 Screw. It has been one of the best investments I ever made and by far the best vehicle I have ever owned to date.

Well I am a brand new owner of an '05 F150 Screw FX4.
It's a great truck.

Will post pics. when it decides to quit raining.

Moral of the story;
Stay away from the dealers lot whengetting your truck serviced.

Congrats!

I must say I am envious...I just bought my 00 SCrew in Sept. of last year and am extremely happy with it so far. I drive by the local dealer at least twice a day and have been admiring some of the 05's on the lot as I pass for the last few months. About a month ago one of my associates was with me and was looking for a truck "she is a Ford fan through and through"! So I took the opportunity one day when we were out of the office on errands and had some time. I took her to the lot with the ulterior motive of looking at them myself. The exteriors are quit nice but when I peered in the window I began to lust for one BAD!

The combo of leather, and chrome that they use is exciting, inviting, and seductive to me! I LOVE the ****pit layout...It is sweet! But I would hate to cheat on my girl only 5 months and only 6 thousand miles in to our relationship. I have not got to try her out for the long haul yet!

I normally only buy one late model truck for personal daily use every 10 years or so. It hasn't even been ten months...This could be a long 9 years and 7 months for me while waiting until I have gotten my money's worth out of her, to get one of those 05' babies! Of course they won’t be a late models by then so hopefully they will keep a similar design concept for the interiors in 2015! LOL

Edited to add:
LOL the board edited Crockpit

Holy freakin' Moly! That thing is AWSOME! Congrats on the new rig (and one of the hottest trucks on this site.) You may want to post some pics of it in the 04-05 forum so everybody else can drool all over their keyboard like I did.

Here are some Nanners for ya...

Thanks for the compliments,

It has driven thru a couple of minor mudslides because of the rains here. I need to clean it up to get some better pics.

The more I drive it, the more I like it. The only thing I don't like is the lack of storage behind the rear seat for my offroad emergency stuff. Like recovery straps, shovel, rope, tow hitch, gloves, a change of clothes, first aid kit, fishing pole, food and water. Can't forget the Everclear, great to sterilize, degrease, start fires and you know the rest....

Is there a cargo net for under seat storage?

Yeah, I guess I better post some pics on the '04-'05 forum.

Youre right Canyonslicker... That's hw I ended up with a 200 Expedition. I went in to get an "oil change" on my 1999 SuperCab. While waitign I browsed the lot and ended up trading in my 18 month old truck for a new SUV.

Advise: got to Pep Boys, or Firestone for service...
