Lincoln Mark LT Chopper
Lincoln Mark LT Chopper
I havn't watched it yet (it's saved on my Tivo) but the description for american Chopper that came on last night said they were building a bike in honor of the lincoln mark LT truck. Just wondering if you guys saw it and what you thought. I personally would like to have seen an F150 bike, it's the only idea that has a chance at topping the carroll shelby bike.
I think the part where they toured the Michigan truck plant was the best part in the episode. They take an LT onto a test track where's theres signs all over the place saying "LOW SPEED TEST TRACK" and they're hauling *** down a section that makes the truck look like it has no shocks on it or something. The crash test part was pretty cool too.
It will look like the rest of their bikes.
The Teutels are the bike world equivelant of glorified Cake decorators.
They use somebody elses frames and fenders and the only one there who can really fabricate is Rick Petco.
Would you really want that idiot Mikey helping with your brakes?
Notice how nothing ever fits after they paint and chrome on EVERY bike. You would think that after the first one they would be able to work out the clearances involved for powder coat or plating.
Did you see the one where Vince couldn't get his bike started in time for that show and then after the event, someone found out that the pushrods were too long, holding the valves open? Nothing like checking.
How about the Shelby bike where they filled it with freezing 60w oil THEN noticed that the pressure was low THEN dyno'ed it anyway and blew the engine up.
Idiots. I only watch it to annoy myself

Are you nuts?Do you think every bike builder builds thier own frames.Cake decorators? funny thats the same term one of West Coast Choppers employees used for them what a coincidence. When you are building a bike on a theme what else do you think they are supposed to do its decoration.Their production bikes are not gussied up like the one you see on that show.Do you really think those guys have no talent and do not know how to build a real bike.Do you think they have the powder coat problem on the production bikes, the theme bikes are one of customs built by hand not tried and true production methods with standardized parts. The frames are outsourced because it is cost and time effective to do so none the less the frames are buit to their specs, from a biz standpoint it does not make sense to make their own frames.Would you consider them real bike builders if they had long hair and tats? Also I seriously dont think that any bike is leaving there without being thoroughly gone over and checked for quality control so as not to worry if the idiot mikey left a caliper loose(and yes you are right Mikey is an idiot who needs to grow up).

I will stand by my cake decorators remark although I haven't heard it used before by anybody. Bending up bits if 5/16" rod and welding it to a bike does not make you a bike builder. Long hair or tattoos doesn't come into it.
Everything they do that goes out for paint and chrome looks unfinished. Rough welds etc, the whole shebang. Somebody else does the hard work.
Their production bikes look like everybody elses and are built from a parts bin. You can bet that Jnr & Snr never lay a finger on them, which probably makes them a better bike.
Even if it's a one off bike, you should be able to measure accurately. How many times do you see a wheel that won't turn because they can't work out the spacing or the primary hitting the cases?
Did you see the I Robot bike where the tank didn't fit after paint ?(again)
Snr just wanted to squash it down onto the frame till the bolts bit then jam them in. Very nice.
In my opinion, they are flying by the seat of their pants.
If I was having a bike built for myself, I would choose either the Martin Bros or Matt Hotch.
Wow those are some serious words. They (OCC) have not been in business that long. 10 years or so. I think they build some really nice stuff. OCC has to make the show interesting cause if they didn't no one would watch.
Jessie James builds some cool bikes as well. He seems like a cool guy.
