If any of you are interested check out the original comic book series. Much better set up and execution. Especially regarding the female character earning the respect of the Predators. In fact the original screenplay was going to be based off the comic . Would have been a much better flick IMHO.

Movies will NEVER be as good as the book because our mind's eye and imagination takes us to places where most directors can't go (Or don't have the budget to go).

The movie Predator 2, sucked IMHO; but there were key elements even in that disaster. I mean; I'm sorry- but Danny Glover would have a hard time kicking my butt, let alone defeating a Predator. (Arnold too, for that matter; but Arnold tricked him; he didn't just kick his butt.)

If Predator 2 had been 50% of what the novel was; that would have been awesome- but having him fight in LA is no where near as creepy as fighting in the jungle- that's what P2 lacked.

AVP was good- too short, but good. Biggest mistake: The aliens don't grow that fast; although I understand the need for speed in a 97 minute flick. Otherwise, think it is well worth the $15.99 for the DVD (That I'll buy today)

I wasnt refering to the novels(which are pretty good as I understand it). I meant the Dark Horse published comics AliensVsPredator. The original script for AvP was a streamlined version of these comics and would have been awesome on screen. Aside from budget I cant imagine why they would ditch it.

Worth checking out if you can find them online. Story is great and the artwork is pretty decent.

I bought one AVP comic years ago; but the art was, horrific, so I never bought another.

I have an Alien vs Predator novel (That I never read). I may have to move it to a location where it'll be read.... (Bathroom).

I forgot to mention my main problem with this movie. In my opinion movies like these deserve much better treatment. This is a movie that could have HUGE battles (like the comics) With swarms of Aliens overrunning humans and Predators.

The comic gives more of a feeling of danger because when the crap hits the fan it hits hard. Here we have a handful of humans,3 Predators, and maybe a dozen Aliens. And we all kinda know that if things get hairy the Predator's personal nuke should take care of things. And anything that survies wont last for long in that climate. The comic gives a better sense of panic and urgency if you will.

To me a movie like this or X-Men (man, did I hate that flick) deserve generous budgets to do it right. Without a good budget these movies feel VERY watered down. All IMHO of course.

The idea has alot more potential than Freddy vs Jason so I hope the sequel is bigger in scope. Well see I guess...

cia-agent,

There have been several series of comics. But none of the as good as the first series. If you can find them they are well worth the read. Especially in the bathroom.
