Small world man. My FIL lives in Lagrange. In fact the last time I was there I ate at Kaelin's Trackside.

Awesome!

You just have to watch out for that first step out the door. CSX might pick you off.

I live about 1 mile away from the square there. Next time you're in you should check out the Irish Rover Too. Great food and a neat atmosphere (especially when a train rolls by).

Look me up next time you're in!

Will do. I should be rolling through KY in late Sept 05 on my way to IL to camp, hunt squirrels, pigs, and coyotes, and drink beer. You're welcome to come along, it's an open hunt.

ETA: how long have you lived in LaGrange? You might have known my wife from when she worked at Kaelin's.

Probably not. I've only been up here for a little over a year now. My wife teaches in Oldham County and I commute into Louisville every day for work.

Aha. She's been gone since 1997/98 or so when she joined Uncle Sam's traveling circus. We don't have any plans to move there either...I'm orignially from MD and now reside in VA, We're close enough to my M-I-L as it is. I used to tease her that they piped sunshine into LaGrange.

Wow... small world!

My wife is at Buckner but has high hopes of moving over to one of the new schools that they're building... She's been there for 3 years now I believe and LOVES it.

So, in your honest opinion...

Juicy's or Backwoods?

Man... I feel your pain there.

I had a few job offers when I got out of school; most of which were in North Carolina. I had this one with a group in Louisville. After some deep thought, I opted for Louisville (obviously). I'd be lying if I said that I didn't consider being farther away from the in-laws. North Carolina DEFINITELY had that going for it!

Now, even worse, I've been exploring a lateral move within my field to Bowling Green (about an hour north of Nashville). I'd still be with the same company but home based there. Go figure, my in-laws would then be only 30 minutes away. LOL!

Well on the semi bright side when I was at PLDC @ Ft Knox my MIL drove 3.5 hours (from Bedford) to see me for a few minutes...dunno WTH she did it, but I got to walk over to the Burger King on base and say hey to a familiar face. Of course that was pre Sept 11th 2001. Damn time's flying.

Anyhow, MIL lives in Shelbyville now, FIL still is in the LaGrange area although he is moving to a different trailer park.

Sorry for hijacking your thread PONY_DRIVER.

RP,
My wife has already interviewed for a position at the new elementary school. I think she has a pretty good shot at getting it. The principal for the new elem. school came from Crestwood Elem., and he told my wife along with several others that he wanted them to apply for transfer. I think she is supposed to find out sometime in March if she got the job.

I haven't made it to Backwoods yet, although I hear it is good.
Jucy's is OK. I prefer Mark's Feed Store over Jucy's.

Interesting...

Which school? My wife felt like her interview went well too. What grade? Sounds like our wives may be co-workers soon.

She will be going to Kenwood Station Elementary if she gets the job. She currently teaches 3/4 combined at Crestwood. I'm not sure if she will have 3/4 combo or one grade at Kenwood.
Phillip Moore is the new principal at Kenwood. Do you know who your wife interviewed with?

Not sure honestly on his name. To tell you the truth, I'm not even sure what the new school's name is going to be... it's the one over there near the High School off of 393. She's currently a 2/3 teacher at Buckner but is gunning for the music position (dual-major -- Elem. Education/Music Education).
