Question I just dont get it?

You know i just dont get it. This is meant towards the nissan titan/ dodge hemi post of which one to buy. Why does everyone look at the track times of these trucks. Do they not realize that when they are tested 0-60 or in the 1/4 mile it is ***** to the walls??? How often are you going to load up your atvs or whatever and hammer it from every corner??????????????? What is the point. I gaurente on a normal take off the ford will keep up with the titan, hemi or whatever. This is the saddest thing i have ever heard coming towards trucks. Im sure your truck will last over a 100,000 miles if you slam her to the floor from every corner just so u can be the fastest..not...I dont intend this to be a flame war but seriously...for all the people looking at getting these fast trucks, think about it. What else do they have over ford?

At the bottom of each thread there are two buttons. One says "Post Reply" and the other one says "New Thread". If you are posting a reply it is best to use the 'post reply' button so your post remains in the same thread instead of starting a completely new thread.

No kiddin TUFF. Ive been slammed a couple times here at school buy kids who just cant understand why I dont "Put some 20's on it" or "put some nitrous on it"

These people dont have a clue, i just look at them like "How have you managed to stay alive and make it into college this long?"
It's a truck. The 4.6 in a half-ton truck is slow. It's got a toolbox, a trailer hitch, and a 6 foot bed, and they all get used when needed; firewood, furniture, etc or running it thru a foot of mud.
If i wanted to run something in the 1/4, Id go get my buddies modded 93 Cobra or 95 LT-1 and then we'd have some fun.
Except for the Lightning and the SRT-10, i dont see why people are so fixed on speed out of a regular pickup or even a Supercrew...wtf????

Take a look at the post history:

https://www.f150online.com/forums/se...der=descending

Basically, he's written off ford, because he bought a large travel trailer, and his old generation 150 with oversized tires and 3.55 gears dogs and gets cruddy fuel mileage when towing the trailer. umm, Duuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhh!

My Lightning has 92,000 miles on it & it runs 12.6's in the quarter mile.

Its a ford though

Point being...when your towing or just out driving around, a person is not going to put it to the floor everytime. And yes there are some days where a guy will to have fun. I just think its stupid buying a truck because it is 6 seconds faster pulling in 0-60 when they are ***** to the walls. On a normal take off they will run side by side i bet. And who gets better gas mileage? Havnt heard much outta the dodges for sure and im not sure about the titan. Just my .02 cents.

It'll pull a jet ski + trailer at over 125mph.

Oh, BTW: The above statement was on a closed course, with a professional driver. Don't try this at home kids!

I agree, the only time I can even see those tests being remotely useful in a real situation would be trying to get on the highway while pulling something, but thats about it.

Actually...I do drive like that at almost every light and almost every time I take off, and I rarely go less than 80 MPH on the interstate + I get to 80mph as fast as I possiably can...Only Time I go less or don't launch hard or to the floor, is when I have an unsteady load that I am nervous about losing. I was actually shoping for a Dodge when I drove this truck and I had test driven MANY MANY Dodge, Ford and even a couple chevy before I bought this one...My wife was getting aggrevated because nothing felt right to me untill this truck. As soon as I pulled it off the lot for the test drive before I ever got pulled into a lane.. I knew I was buying this one! NON of the others held a candle including the other Fords or Dodges that I drove! It is the perfect all around truck! It may not be 9's in the quarter... but its a BIG.... HEAVY.... TRUCK! Out of all the ones I drove during my 2 month search the by Seat of the pants, Fords were generaly faster! There was a few Dodges that felt descent but more fords felt as good or better. So I dont know it they had a 4.3 against a V-10 or what... But from my S.O.T.P. those test are WRONG! However I was driving 2000's-2002's
