The Darwin Award is only awarded to people that remove themselves from the gene pool. Although these kids may win the award someday, I doubt any of them were actually killed (or had their ********* detached from their bodies) from this little chemistry 'experiment'.

Yes, but something like this ought to be an automatic removal from the gene pool. Forced sterilization.

I wonder if that kid still has his hand?

Anyone here know how big the force of that would have been?

It's quite an extreme force. I knew someone who used to do it with dry ice and water. It would put a good size hole in the ground. It's where the top is pointed that really matters.

He would never do it with a chemical reaction. His were just a thermal reaction, no poisons whatsoever.

I hope the kid is alright.

I'm sure it resulted in some type of cuts...

and then to be covered in CHLORINE... I'm sure it will act as an antiseptic, but hurt like hell.

At the pool i managed during the summer, there were several guards that decided to try this with shock and water. We had to rush 2 of the 5 to the hospital with 3rd degree chemical burns all over. Needless to say, they were fired and received no workers comp.
