It will be the last SB Detroit ever sees. Once people see the down town area they wont want to come back. On the plus side it could end up being really fricken cold and no one will venture outside to see all the blight.

Sled...

wait a second!

I work downtown! Downtown WILL BE READY!
Infact I park at ford field every day and walk 1 block to the courthouse.

It will be great.
The casino's are walking distance from the football field, Greektown is right there also.
Fox Theater and the state theater is directly across the street from the football/baseball stadium.
Hockeytown and a slew of other bars are there also.

People who think downtown detroit is Ghetto OBVIOUSLY don't work there.

Now once you get out of downtown... that is another story! You can't deny that.

But I'll walk anywhere downtown, anytime. It is where are the businesses are, the city will not allow it to be dangerous. Therefore there are police EVERYWHERE. If it were dangerous downtown, all the businesses would leave. plain and simply!

And since the city charges city income tax, with no businesses there, they'd go bankrupt.

That is why downtown is safe.

There are about 10 good blocks downtown... the other 300 suck. We have plenty of hotels and freeways... but we have no public transportation system, no cabs, no subway (people mover is about as useful as ice cubes in an igloo). We are putting giant painted tarps over our abandon buildings to make them look good...

On the plus side, Ford Field is awesome and will be a fantastic place to see the game. Our suburbs rock and there is plenty to do. I think people coming for the game will leave thinking "I had a good time, but I wouldn't live there". The only city I've every thought "yeah, I'd live there/go back" is Chicago.
