Post Senior Terrorist Released

PRISONER RELEASED

The US Navy today announced that it has released a senior Al Quaida terrorist after questioning him extensively for 27 days while he was held prisoner aboard a US aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea.
In a humanitarian gesture the terrorist was given $50 US and a white Ford Fairlane automobile upon being released from custody.

This photo shows the terrorist on his way home just after being released by the Navy.

That French POS would fall apart upon launch and kill some of our sailors.

Actually that is not possible. The catapults have to be set to a specific weight of the aircraft or what ever they are going to launch. After they have launched the aircraft or whatever they are stopped by a water brake at the end of the catapult.

If you tried to launch, say a VW any greater then its actual weight (there is some tolerance involved) anyhow if you exceed that weight you will seize the catapult into the water brake and it will weld itself into it and make a big mess.

It happen to one of our catapults when a launching hook on an A-7 broke off and the catapult was launching a no-load set to somewhere around 50,000 lbs. It took a special team 4 straight days to rebuild the water brake and catapult. The A-7 went in the ocean but the pilot was ok because he ejected before the A-7 ever left the carrier.

An interesting note is a catapult will take you from 0mph to approx. 120 – 160mph in 2 seconds…

I'm sure that is a kick in the pants for a pilot...course to a F-14 pilot the catapult is probably nothin special

01 XLT - I was on the Kity Hawk for 2 months and bunked port side right under the angled deck. Those catapults are LOUD!!!

Also we would go out on the catwalk right outside our berthing and try to get pics of the jets when they launched. I almost got blown over by the jetwash when they drop down.
