WHO CARES!!!!!!! !!!duh!!! imbuyingadodge.com
Where do people get their information?
The Hemi makes just as much torque at 1000rpm as the 5.4L Triton. The transmission has one more gear to utilize the extra power it makes too.
I know someone with a 2wd Quad Cab 1500 Hemi who got 20mpg on the highway. I get 11-13mpg on my 4x4 Supercrew 5.4L over 25k miles.
The 45RFE is just as solid as the 4R70W
Most people prefer the rest of the truck (interior, ride, etc) of the F-150's over Rams.
Hemi does not respond to aftermarket performance bolt ons very well. It also recommend mid-grade fuel for peak performance, but can run on 87 octane.

neso,
i wouldn't be trading in my ford, just so i could spank my friend's silverado. it's a truck...it's for towing and hauling, not really designed for speed. i know there are a lot of guys that mod the heck out of their trucks, and can turn out some impressive numbers, but that is not the primary purpose of the truck (excluding the lightning, st-10, etc.) if you want to go fast, go buy a new gto or mustang gt. you could rape any of the trucks bone stock.

I'm not sure what kind of response was expected asking that question in this (Ford) forum. I have no problems with Dodge Rams and haven't heard anything bad from the guys driving them here at work.
If you go to the Dodge forums the mpg threads put mileage all over the place almost identical to the mpg threads here. Similar to people here seeing the same mileage between the 4.6 and 5.4, the Dodge guys are seeing the same mileage between the 4.7 and Hemi (more or less).
The only thing I didn't see at the Dodge forums is threads about dealing with the DSB and buybacks. I'm sure they have those problems too but I didn't notice much there.
I did see a lot about the Hemi not responding much to aftermarket upgrades like intake/exhaust. There was also a bit about some of the Dodge engines sludging (the 4.7 while not notorious, was mentioned). It seems Ford owners have the upper hand upgrading the 5.4 to compete against the Hemi (at least for now and maybe for some time).
Appearance-wise the Fords are beautiful and the Dodge's are a bit "over the top". The Dodge isn't really ugly (it's sort of brutish), but it does sort of grab your attention. The Ford look is more understated and solid.
I'm not fond of seeing Dodge lots filled with trucks all blinged out with 20" rims though. I checked a few lots and it's pretty much a chore to find a truck with 17" wheels.
To get a better (more positive) response about buying a Dodge though, asking in a Dodge forum could be helpful
.
My personal preference is if I was to get a regular cab truck, I would get the Dodge. I like the single door and the Dodge cab seems to have the same amount of room as the Ford regular cab (I put the seat back to where I couldn't touch the pedals and still had plenty of room behind the seat for storage). For an extended or crew cab truck the Ford wins hands down (my opinion again).
Another positive for the Dodge is a more "ala carte" option system for building your truck.

Your the one making the payments or paying the cash for the truck. Drive the truck you like and don't look back. Everyone is going to have an opinion on what truck you should drive, but, YOU are the one that makes the decision, not them. I couldn't tell you what a hemi gets for gas mileage because I have not drove one. Until I can drive one, I won't make any judgement from other people's opinions. It looks like Dodge has made some good improvements.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

hahah, in first of all i am ford guy for ever. its just that people are bashing about there hemi how good it is. people are saying hemi can outperform Trition in speed and pulling. i dont care what they say i am sticking to my F150, with this beaing said i am gonna go wash my truck and take picture so you guys can see. Thx for time!
I dunno if the Hemi utilizes the power that it has or not, because with more power and a tranny that's `just as good` as Ford's, you'd think it would be a little closer to being able to tow what the F-150 can.

A 1500 RAM 4x4 quad cab Hemi can tow 8600 pounds with 3.92 axle ratio. An F-150 Supercab 5.4L 3.73 can tow 8800 or 9300 pounds, depending on the wheel size.
