It said avoid the F-150 for heavy towing??? huh? Are these people on crack? The F-150 made their truck of the year last year and did not this year? It competed against the same trucks as last year. Nothing has changed for any truck in the last year.
That's just stupid.

If the Nissan had a Ford grille and badge, you would all be loving it.
Competition is a good thing or the product would stagnate.
Lets hope that Ford has a better engine and 5spd auto somewhere in its future.

The Titan is a great truck....
Say what you will, but it's a match for the F-150 in every measureable area.
They're all over the place~ and while they'll never out-sell Ford, the Titan is spreading like the flu. I'm even seeing them on 20 & 22" rims, with flowmasters and the works- just like the Chevy, Dodge & Ford guys...

Competition is a good thing, but when you already beat those trucks last year and nothing has changed since how could the results be any different? Did Nissan do more advertising in their magazine then Ford? that's probably the difference right there.
Some magazines ranked the Titan #1 last year. (Car & Driver, 4-Wheel & Off Road Magazine); but the Motor TRend TOY winner was the F-150, but the Titan scored high against the F-150 in that area too.
The F-150 is a prettier truck; but it fails to blow the Titan away in any aspect, and this was the first year for the Titan. Both trucks will only improve; but credit must be given when a first timer challenges, and sometimes defeats- the king.
Had I $35,000 to spend you know which One I'd buy? Neither.
I'd get a black & AZ-beige, short bed, F-250 King Ranch, 4x2 Crewcab with the 6.0L; slap on a set of 315/50/22's, tint the windows- then finance the other $10,000.00.

Nissan Pathfinder & Titan Main Reason For Soaring Nissan Sales in December 2004
Nissan Motor Co. announced that its U.S. car and truck sales rose 32.7 percent during December, led by strong sales of the Nissan Titan pick-up trucks and Nissan Pathfinder SUV's which more than doubled from December 2003. Car sales increased 15.7% to 44,629 vehicles, and truck sales soared 53.8% to 47,639 vehicles.
The Nissan Pathfinder and the Nissan Titan truck models led sales, with the Murano and Armada SUVs reporting strong results as well. Sales of the Nissan Quest SUV fell 18.6% to 3,206 vehicles. The Nissan Altima sedan is its best selling vehicle and surged to a 37% increase to 19,627 cars in December.
For December, total Nissan-brand sales rose 35.5% to 80,201 vehicles, while total Infiniti-brand sales irose 16.5% to 12,067 vehicles. For the entire 2004 year, the company reported that vehicle sales increased 23.7% to 985,988 units, with car sales rising 5.9% and truck sales soaring 54.9%.
That's pretty gosh-darn good for an import
