People need to realize that these are powerful machines! They can easily reach 100+mph in seconds. Something that powerfull can kill. You wouldn't let a 14 year old jump on a 1300 Kawasaki Ninja? So why would a someone let their kid jump on a sled that will go just as fast in the 1/4 mile?? Example the new Ski-doo Mach Z. A rocket on ski's

The new sleds today handle awesome but people have to understand what they are about to ride.

What, are these people watching slednecks and trying the crazy stuff they do? I don't think people realize how powerful a snowmobile can be. One blip of the throttle and it can get away from you. I like to ride on the edge, BUT, I know and respect my machine.
Keep the track side down.
On a side note, how many miles do you snowmobiliers have on so far this winter? I've got 490 miles to date. In the next 3 weeks, I should add another 1000 miles to that.

Will it ever snow again in iowa?? Ever since i bought my 99 600 mountain max it hasnt snowed enough to ride and that was 3 years ago. I have put on about 400 miles since ive bought it. Plan on making a trip to the black hills or Laramie, Wyoming in about two weeks. Cant wait. And yes...these machines will take you to places you never want to go. Good adrenalin rushes haha.

Check out this picture (sorry about the size, but it's worth the wait if you're on dial-up)....

If that aint enough to slow you down a little bit, nothing will. This happened in Michigan last Friday, and according to the report, "it is believed that alcohol and speed" were factors in the accident. The sled hit a tree and the rider was killed. Slow down people, and enjoy the scenery around you!!!

I've got about 525 miles on my sled this year. 400 of those miles were in the Dubois, WY area, 100 miles were in NW Wisconsin and the other 25 miles were just riding around my home/neighborhood in SE Minnesota. We had decent snow for a couple of days, but the day after the trails were groomed, we saw temps over 40, so that put an end to the trails for now.
