Question Selling my '05 Screw. How much should I ask for it?

There's no KBB, NADA, or Edmunds data available for 2005 models yet. I got orders to Italy less than a month after buying the truck in November.

How much should I advertise in the paper? It's the truck in my sig with 1700 miles. MSRP was $38,385.

Thanks.

Thought about it, and while it's true that trucks are valuable over there, if an Italian buys it, they have to pay tax equal to the price paid for the American vehicle. That's what a Master Sergeant that was stationed there for three years told me.
It's going to cost me too much to take it with me if I can't sell it over there. It's on a lease. If I buy it, my payment will be ~$650/mo. for 5 years. Any gas I buy over my monthly ration will cost me ~$5.75/gallon and insurance is outrageous. I'll have to pay $187/mo. on my truck. If I take my wife's car('98 Stratus) that is paid for, it's only $37/mo. I figure it will cost me ~$1000/mo. to take it with me. I don't want to make that kind of commitment to a truck and put my family in a bad financial situation.

Them roads are real skinny. I wouldn't take anything you didn't mind getting damaged. How long is your lease? If it's long enough, I'd probably check with family to see if they wanted to use it while your gone, or at least store it a few months. You'll prolly take a bath if you try to sell it now.

First of all, thank you for your service to my country.

You might check these guys out;

Looked at buying a car from them. Interesting concept-they act as a broker for people that want out of a lease early. Good luck and keep safe-

KE, thanks for the link. I'll check that out.

Does everyone agree that $30,000 is a good asking price?

Can't anyone walk into a dealer and get $8k off MSRP? I think $30k is too high for a used F-150.

DT-

I'd be comfortable starting at $30k. I think its really a regional thing. I paid just under $30k in 12/04 for my 04 FX4 with 16k miles. It had an exhaust, grille, bedliner and new oversized tires already installed.

Was a pretty good deal based on what was on the market here.

Yeah, these trucks sell for more up here. For a used 2001 Supercrew Lariat w/ over 100,000, they want ~$22K. I've seen the same trucks in other regions for ~$17K.

There is a law that protects you as a serviceman. You can call your dealer and explain the situation and if you are being shipped out overseas they may just take it back for you. Please check into this and thank you. The prez signed into law something about this and it protects you if you are shipped overseas and it is a leases right?. If it is you may be able to just take it back. I will check out some things and get back to you on this.

Some leases have military clause in them, talk to your base legal they may be able to help by going over your lease agreement with you.

Well, it'll be in the paper tomorrow for $29,999. After being in there for four days at $31,995 and only getting one call, we'll see what happens. That'll still leave me with a little change in my pocket after paying off the loan.
