Does anyone have an active Carfax account at the moment? If so, can you do me a huge favor and run one for me?

I ain't Carfax but...
'04 Exploder, Eddie Bauer 4x4, 4.6L/5R55S trans, warranty start date was 02/19/2004, build date was 01/30/2004, has an open campaign, 04B22, for transmission fluid additive.
Two different repair visits under warranty are shown, both pertaining to A/C, first one on August 3, 2004 at Moore Ford Lincoln Mercury, replacing the compressor clutch hub and adjusting the clearance, second one was at Coggin Deland Ford on December 28, 2004, apparently the A/C was freezing up, they readjusted the compressor clutch gap. No other service history available.

Quintin... you are THE man! Thanks bud.
Is that information collected from OASIS? Also, what's the scoop on this 'transmission fluid additive'?
It's interesting that one of those services occured in West Virginia whereas the other took place in South Florida. Like I said, she only shows about 7500 on the odo. Makes me wonder if she's an auction car...

Yup, from your friendly neighborhood OASIS thingy.
Apparently, Uncle Henry filled some transmissions in Aviators, LS's, Rangers, Mountaineers and Exploders with the wrong juice that may cause delayed and harsh engagements into reverse. Dealers are to add some magic elixir that'll up the fluid in the trans to the latest spec and supposedly prevent that nastiness. Comes in a 6 ounce bottle, official name for it is "5R55S/E and 5R44 Transmission Additive," 4L2Z-19B546-AA, or XL-11.
Auction cars are usually coated with black underspray on the chassis to hide any rust or previous repairs; see any of this, and it'd be an almost instant red flag, to me at least.

You're definately right RJS... It would be a safe assumption that someone would be exceedingly interested in having a good AC while in Orlando on vacation.
I haven't crawled under this one.... yet. This one is sitting at the dealership where I purchased my 05' and thus, I'm going to give my sales guy a call. I plan on contacting the previous owners (as the dealership is required to provide me with this information if I ask -- a KY law). I'll give them a buzz and hopefully gain more information as well.
My wife's Accord SE has been a great car but she's wanting bigger and better (don't all women?). We've got several thousand in equity so, that should make the trade a bit easier. On the other side of the coin, we're looking at new Mariners (we're Z-plan folks because of a family member) but, we'd like to have the space/power/ammenities of the Exploer EB.
Thanks again for all of the information folks.

It has been a good vehicle though. Absolutely NO problems with it in 51,000 miles.
I'm just not sure that the truck and this explorer will fit in the garage. I'm currently researching size specs on both to determine if it could happen. LOL!
