DVD Player/Recorder

I just bought a new DVD Player/Recorder and I can copy movies from my video camera onto a DVD disc-------- why won't it copy another DVD movie from another DVD player

I think DVD's are encoded with some sort of piracy or theft protection so you cant copy them. I dont think its all of them but, I have heard of this.

BREWDUDE is right, most of the newer DVDs have copyright protection encoded into it so that it cannot be duplicated.

Edited for Brewdudes sake. Sorry bout that mustve thought I was in another thread or somethin. I must be gettin old.

Its called macrovision.

Some wont let you copy at all, and some cover a bunch of the movie with black bars.

I use DVD Shrink and DVD Decryptor to backup my DVD's if you need to you can then copy them onto a DVD-R or a DVD+R if the original gets ruined.

Is this a standalone player/recorder (for your TV), or a computer DVD-burner?

Working now

It is a DVD Player/Recorder that goes with a TV..I have copied several new DVDs with no trouble-------------- Original proble was because I did not follow operating instructions
