Irag vote-I would call it a success so far

I am at work so cant watch any up to date stuff on the tube, but from what I have been reading on Fox and CNN sights.
I would say the election so far was a success.
I was exspecting way higher death #s and attacks.
Now the big question will be if the results hold or if the Sunni just cry fraud.
Anyway, seems like things have gone better than many had thought or even hoped they would.
Lets hope things settle down for our boys and Iraq isnt just thrust into a civil war as a result..

Sled...

They have to start somewhere. And it looks like a good start.

Do you think the first elections HERE after the revolution were a cake walk??

It will continue to get better, as long as the populas wants it.

When Lincoln was elected, he had to be disguised as a woman, just to safely make it to be inaugurated.

It's troubling that more Sunnis didn't participate in the elections; but, Lincoln was re-elected in the middle of the Civil War. How many Southern votes were counted I wonder? You have to do the best you can and make improvements as you're able.

This election in Iraq is HUGE, absolutely huge. I would have thought that even if the turnout was 50% it would have been huge and that is comparing it to the normal turnout in America which many times is less then 50%.

This very well may be one of the biggest historic events in our lifetimes. It is a HUGE blow to the terrorist and those who support terrorism. They now have no excuse or cause to continue killing innocent Iraq citizens in the name of their cause against America. The reason is because now they will be fighting against a public elected government that the Iraq citizens have elected and chosen on their behalf with no interference.

I suspect we will be there another 1 – 2 years to get their military and police forces up to speed in order to protect themselves once we do pull out and that is as it should be because it is in the best interest of America and Iraq.

As far as the Sunni’s crying fraud and/or a civil war will be unsuccessful. They can’t cry fraud because they had as much opportunity to vote as any other group. As far as civil war, the Sunni’s, if they have any brains, will insure that don’t happen because if it does it will finish in the vast majority of them, the Sunni’s, being wiped out of existence. They are a small minority and have suppressed too many people for to many years. I believe they are smart and educated and will keep their mouths shut and learn how to get along and interact for a bright future because that is really their only choice, as it should be.

Now we just need to give them a chance and some room to be successful and hopefully some here will be able to shut up the terrorist supporters like Kennedy, Kerry, Barbra Boxer and that crowd who would like to see Iraq fail for pure political gain.

This my friends is HUGE because if it continues to be successful it could mean more stability in the Middle East which has been very unstable for many years. More stability in the Middle East means more stability for America and the rest of the free world.

The terrorist are getting their asses handed to them on a daily basis and either they will finally get it that nobody with moral values and a brain gives a crap about their goofy cause or hopefully the vast majority of them will be slaughtered, as it should be…

I on board with the nukes. Just drop it [them] and end it. We did it in Japan to save lives, our mens lives, so lets make it a "Glass Factory".

yeah, it amazes me how many of us do not vote. I can not understand why anyone would not vote in this country.

The worse things are, the more people are likely to vote. When things are going well, people get lazy.

Well I was on SSN-724 during Desert Storm and we launched 11 tomahawks. I was dying to use a B109 TLAM-N (nuclear tomahawk) but no one would leave me alone long enough to switch the warheads.......

I mean if we don't use em how do we know they still work?
